Sports have been viewed as hobbies or after school activities. Now people view sports as full on careers and dream jobs. Colleges have begun supporting this new view come true by giving full or partial scholarships to sport’s athletes. Already a big compensation , it is not the only benefit athletes receive. They now consider offering college athletes a certain pay for their representation and participation in selected college sports. For a high school athlete this appears as a dream come true. On the other hand , for an athlete who depends strictly on his grades to enter college , this would feel unfair. Some point out that to receive a sport related scholarship , one must have excellent grades. Though true,college board's view one factor more than the other when deciding whether an athlete should be given a grant. Two factors are,how the athlete plays and his GPA, the factor that taken more into account is how he plays. This differs from factors viewed by the college board's looking to give an academic scholarship,the student will have his GPA as the grandest factor. A scholarship can mean full or partial compensation for rent . Tuition , books , and meal plans. The question proposed , who deserves these benefits , a hard working scholar student or a hard working athlete? College football takes heavy equipment, practice, possibilities of concussion . and popularly televised games. Golf, on the other hand, is not an intense sport, such as football. The question declared,should both sports get paid the same? Each and every sport has a different level of popularity and intensity. For a football player to receive the same amount of pay as an Quidditch player. This said, if athletes were paid,how would they pay them and how much to each sport or athlete? If colleges began paying college athletes, a controversy would start,upon who receive more or less pay. Every sport would have to consider the factors to determine who should be paid more,the factors, the popularity of the sport,amount of practice, and effort. Some of that factors would be judged with bias from the managers, causing an argument upon who shall receive higher pay. Another factor,is which gendered sport would receive a higher pay due to popularity. Men’s sports appear more popular and important than women’s sports. A controversy would arise within the sports teams,on which athlete should be compensated more based on how they play. Although colleges could regulate a minimum, maximum, and median in which all athletes must be paid. Still , this regulation would not last long due to different positions and popularity of each athlete. To avoid all of these controversies,it would appear fair to not pay the athletes and just give
