Being said so, parts in the book where violence such as wolf attacks, gunshots, and potential homicide is clearly depicted through simple yet powerful vocabulary. The book also contains parts about kissing and a sexual act which was depicted through a fade-to-black style. Although the book contains such scenes, the depth of the words that were used to elaborate a particular scene was not too strong and was in fact in a moderate level. The book can therefore still be suitable for young readers. At the same time, the characters within the book are also of the same age range which made it easy to understand and relate to the story as it progresses and …show more content…
The diverse alternation of point of views also provides the story an effective way to reach out to readers and be felt. The characterisation is effectively done and applied as Sam, Grace, and the other supporting characters play individual, crucial roles in the course of the story. All the elements of a typical young adult novel, consisting of a gap-filled relationship between children and parents, emotion-driven teenagers, and a unique conflict that makes the book distinct from fellow novels, combined with the dangerous consequences of the challenges the couple encounter, make the book different from all other of the same genre. The plot unfolds slowly giving readers enough time to adjust and anticipate the heavy conflict when it arises. It has gotten us so hooked but the only thing we could possibly dislike about it was the slow pace of plot. The anticipation was too much to handle and we were practically buzzing and bouncing to know how the story turns out as we read. It builds the anticipation, excitement, thrill, sadness, grief, loss, and longing in such an effective way to entice and hook readers further into the world of Sam and

Over this entire novel, it might a good novel for children, but so many characters, confuse reader. And some plot seems have some problem on it. Such as, why people very easy to ac...
Throughout the story, Taylor grows as a person and learns what it means to be part of a family. Kingsolver's choices for point of view, setting, conflict, theme, characterization, and style help support the plot and create an uplifting story with a positive message.
Ideas- The main idea in this book changes all throughout it. There is one idea that goes throughout the whole story which has a protagonist and an antagonist. Charlie is the protagonist. The antagonist… high school. This develops miraculously throughout the book. Starting off with his first day, to the homecoming game where he meets Sam and Patrick, to his last days of being a freshman. “And I’m Patrick. And this is Sam” pg-19. At first Charlie is worried about high school and his english teacher Bill fixes that quickly. He meets his two new best friends Sam and Patrick at a football game. He then went from there going through tough times. All though ...
The mood in this book reflects the mood of a teenager this helps the reader understand the main character Ethan Palmer.
From this, we can conclude that Zach’s character was a rapidly changing and very confusing mess. Zach’s relationship with Cammie's was also a rapidly changing and very confusing mess. Yet these two things, once studied, brought the readers to some very important ideas - such as themes about love, and
I find the end of this novel very interesting due to the fact that Sara ends up with her father back in her life, even after running away from him. Sara admits that she cannot escape her family; she states ‘it would be like a tree trying to escape its roots.’ This novel not only shows the reader what it is to constantly think about money and the lack thereof, but also puts us face to face with many of the inevitabilities of life, such as growing up, growing old, getting sick, death, doubting ones self, attaining our goals, sometimes failing, but staying strong through it all, and taking control of the things that we can control in our lives while accepting the things that we have no control over.
“Shiver” is the first book of the Trilogy, “The Wolves of Mercy Falls”, written by Maggie Stiefvater. The trilogy explains the growth of Grace Brisbane’s and Sam Roth’s passionate relationship. The storyline begins, with 11 year old Grace, who is being attacked by wolves. On the brink of death, she is rescued by a comforting wolf who has unusual yellow eyes. From that day forward, she patiently waits for the comforting wolf to emerge again from the woods behind her home.
The author of Divergent ,Veronica Roth, analyzes as to why people act and thinks the way they do and to why they defy the system. She uses the psychological aspects of behavior genetics, neuroscience, and social cultural. The norms are what allow societies to thrive, without the norms society would go into chaos as no one would be able to be kept in line. Divergent follows the life of a young girl who is faced with the choice to decide in which faction to spend the rest of her days. Unlike her peers and fellow city, she is not in the norm she can not be just one personal trait nor could she be manipulated through simulations. In this utopian society everyone is classified into five factions based on mental state; However, Beatrice Prior’s mental state can not be classified into just one faction as her brain structure and genetics are not damaged, like the vast majority of the city.
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. Several scenes pleasantly caught me off guard and some were extremely hilarious, namely, the visit to Martha Oldcrow. I found myself really fond of the char...
Fans of the novel like the way you get to see inside Grace and Marty 's personalities, and the way that these two kids are just like any other, if not a little more unusual. You will find yourself glued to the pages until you have finished reading the novel. The adventures will make it so that you only breath about every once in a while and you will like the characters you are reading about, even if you are an adult. The novel is vivid in description and it is almost as though you are able to make a movie of things in your head. Some felt that they were along for the ride with the heroes, Grace and Marty, in this one and they enjoyed every moment of
Many times when reading a novel, the reader connects with one of the characters and begins to sympathize with them. This could be because the reader understands what the character is going through or because we get to see things from the character’s perspective and their emotions and that in return allows a bond to form for the reader. The character that is the most intriguing for me and the one I found comparing to every book that I read during school was Stacey from the book “Ravensong” Lee Maracle. The character Stacey goes through a lot of internal battle with herself and it’s on her path to discovery that she begins to understand herself and what she’s capable of. Throughout the novel, Stacey has a few issues she tries to work through. This is emphasized through her village and in her school that is located across the bridge in white town. Stacey begins dealing with the loss of Nora, and elder in her town. And this in return begins the chain of events that Stacey begins on the path of self-discovery not only on herself but everyone around her. She begins to see things differently and clearly. Stacey is a very complex and confused character, and she begins to work through these complexities through her thoughts, statements and actions.
This book is a very interesting read, if you have some self discipline. I mean that you need some self discipline because this book didn’t really captivate me in the sense that I couldn’t put it down. But after reading it for a while, I started to appreciate the author’s way of describing the characters and actions in this book.
Altogether, this is a book to be read thoughtfully and more than once. It is about an unusually sensitive and intelligent boy; but, then, are not all boys unusual and worthy of understanding? If they are bewildered at the complexity of modern life, unsure of themselves, shocked by the spectacle of perversity and evil around them - are not adults equally shocked by the knowledge that even children cannot escape this contact and awareness? & nbsp;
... is the amount of concern they have for each other, while also putting into perspective the amount of time they had known each other. We all couldn’t accept how close they were from the first hundred, two hundred, or even 284 pages. Once we had set our eyes upon page 285 we see the moment of true sacrifice and friendship that Maddie had for Julie. Maddie did not have to think twice when pulling the trigger on Julie, she knew she was going to be ending her life in a much more peaceful and humane way. My thoughts were strictly on excitement and curiosity if they would all make it out okay, but that all changed with one page.
