Do you believe we should continue to teach Shakespeare in our classrooms today? If you ask people, they may give you a variety of answers, they are not right or wrong. Like me, I believe we should continue to teach Shakespeare in the classrooms for different reasons: to show how people in the past did things and also to portray to us how their mindset or ideology was all those years ago. For example, ¨The Taming of the Shrew¨, was a play that was written by Shakespeare. The play showed how the father Baptista would not allow his younger daughter Bianca to get married until the older sister, Katharine was married first. This just proves and explains to us how things were done in the past. It shows us what people believed in back then to be right. This play changed our society because if Shakespeare had never written his play, then we wouldn't have the movie, ¨10 Things I Hate About You¨ and others that continue the debate of men's and …show more content…

Even if they disagreed, they would still obey their parents and do as they say. What they learn is why laws and expectations have changed to ensure equality among all. Kate is considered her husbands property, but today all men and women are equal in marriage. I am not saying that classrooms should teach ¨The Taming of the Shrew¨, which some people will say it portrays that men have control on women and that you have to obey them like they are something they own. That is not at all what I am saying because everyone is their own person.
