Compare & Contrast Theme Essay Have you ever felt like life is always weighing on you? Is it hard for things to get through to you? Well both Arthur and Brady are always going through many times where they need to do it by them self. In one of the books, The Seventh Most Important Thing, Arthur is always going through change... Hard change. Arthur goes through change was his Mom’s Boyfriend, James Hampton dying, and Tom Owens dying. While on the other hand in the book, Red Kayak, Brady always had courage in himself. Brady had courage in himself when Ben was drowning / dying, and when he did CPR, but most of all when Brady was wanting to help out Mrs.DiAgelos. In the books - The Seventh Most Important Thing And Red Kayak - Arthur and Brady have to go through unspeakable changes because of their life structure. In one of the books - The Seventh Most Important Thing - Arthur has to go through a stage of going to Juvenile Detention Center. In the text it says, “‘Did you attack Mr.Hampton because he looked like a helpless old man - pardon my choice of words,’ the judge added apologetically, glancing in the direction of the Junk Man. ‘Did he seem like an easy target for you?’” This part of the text shows that change is unavoidable because right after Arthur throw a brick at James Hampton he was sentenced to go to Juvie forever, but instead he didn’t, he only was there for three weeks. In the text it also says, “The courtroom behind Arthur buzzed with confusion. What had the judge just said? The brick-throwing kid was being sentenced to work for the guy he’d try to kill? Had Judge Warner completely lost his mind. This part shows that Arthur and James Hampton had change throughout this part of the book. At first Arthur was about to go to Juvie forever but instead James wanted Arthur to work for him. If James Hampton didn’t take Arthur to work for him, Arthur would be in Juvie forever! In the other book - Red Kayak - Brady has to deal with Digger changing from Brady’s friend into a murder. Even though Brady came up with the idea, Digger did it! In the text it says, “Suddenly Digger grabbed the front of my shirt. ‘You think tellin’ the cops is going to change any of that? You think tellin’ the truth brings the kid back?’ - I knocked his hands off and pushed him away. In this part of the text it shows how much Digger and Brad have change and it wasn’t avoidable after the incident. But Digger could have said no too

After the beating he got from the socs, Johnny was more anxious and frightened than ever. He would never get over that horrible experience.
