Journaling is a past-time long forgotten. Finding time to write everyday presents a challenge for many, and so does finding a topic to write about when a mundane day passes. Because of this, most people choose to bypass journaling; however, I have recently rediscovered the purpose of recording my every day shenanigans. Just a week ago I noticed a small notebook hiding behind a few unread books while I was cleaning my bookshelves. As I pulled it from its little nook, it registered in my brain what its contents held. Opening the book was like time-travelling back to my first day at the high school. The words made me cringe consistently, and I began to comprehend how much I have changed since freshman year. I have grown a tremendous amount physically and emotionally, and I can only expect the same to happen in the following four years at college. I have not grown in height since seventh grade, however the physical changes I experienced throughout high school relate mostly to my general appearance. Senior year is a new level of laziness for many individuals, including some students repulsed by the idea of allowing themselves to slack. I am feeling the full effect of the “senior slide,” however, somehow I have managed to become so lazy I do not bother to pretend school causes a significant amount for stress on me. I openly complain about assignments although I know they are not quite challenging enough to warden it, but I also continue to do them at my full ability because I still care immensely about my education. So I told myself to dress nicely for my last couple months at the high school. It induces a favorable feeling, and realized it encourages me to keep working hard everyday.
