Jenni Rivera, born Dolores Janney Rivera Saavedra, was born in Long Beach, CA. She grew up in poverty, and with four brothers she was a tom boy. She learned to defend herself at a young age. “I soon developed the reputation as the girl who beats up boys.” This taught her how to respect herself in the music industry. My first knowledge of her came from the movie that was produced about her life. This movie included her childhood, her rise to fame, her relationships with her family and her husband, and her untimely death. She was a stunning flower that bloomed very young and kept growing with no sight on stopping. She had a gorgeous appearance. She had big brown eyes, ever changing hair styles, and a petite figure. Her husband was just as cute. A smaller guy but not too small. Selena and Chris fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. I developed a deep admiration for these two people and the things they experienced in their youth. I was always looking to learn more about their lives and what happened in Selena's tragic end that shook the world. After finding out that her widow wrote a book about her life, I was excited to get it and begin reading. I wondered if the movie had been completely valid. What did the movie leave out? How did Chris felt about her death? How does he feel now about all that transpired after Selena's death since this was not a perspective that the audience got to clearly see the movie? So, I went immediately, to buy the

Selena was amazing on the stage and the crowds loved her. It really showed when she came out with "Buenos Amigos.” “Buenos Amigos” was a collaboration with Alvaro Torres, and it became a huge hit! Selena was born on April 16, 1971 and died of a gunshot wound on March 31, 1995. Furthermore, in the 1980s, Selena was often criticized and was refused bookings at venues across Texas for performing Tejano music—a male-dominated music genre. However, her popularity grew after she won the Tejano Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1987, which she won nine consecutive times. Selena signed with EMI Latin in 1989 and released her self-titled debut album the same year, while her
I thought Tejano could not be born anywhere else but in Texas because after all that is the meaning of Tejano-Texan in Spanish. I have lived in South Texas all my life, which means that I grew up in an isolated Hispanic community. Although I was not a Tejano music fanatic, I related to the music and understood the words well. Tejano was not popular worldwide at the time but I held my favorites. I knew that as Mexican-Americans that this music was a blend of cultures.

She was born in the United States to Puerto Rican Parents, Jennifer considers herself to be a Puerto Rican and she is very proud of her Hispanic heritage and culture. Her father is David Lopez, a computer specialist, and her mother Guadalupe Lopez, a Kindergarten teacher. Her parents recognized Jennifer’s talent and enthusiasm for performing and at the age of five the enrolled her in dance classes. Her mother said “Jennifer always loved to sing, but she was also a great actress and knew that she would have a bright future ahead of her.” With the support of her parents Jennifer grew up to be a very sensible girl, who is still very close to her family. When Jennifer earned her million-dollar paycheck for playing the role in the movie Selena, she bought her mom a Cadillac. Even though they saw Jennifer’s talent at the age of five, their relationship was not always understandable. Jennifer made a major decision and that was not to go to College. That decision was very disappointing to her parents who wanted her to go to law school. Her parents supported her pursuit of a career in show business, they did not wanted to be in the expense of her education. When Jennifer told her parents that she was not going to College and law school, they thought it was really stupid to go off and try to be a movie star.
When Selena was only six years old, her father had recognized her music talents. He decided to open the family restaurant where Selena would sing, A.B. would be on bass guitar, and Suzette would be on drums. Their band was called Selena y Los Dinos. Her father had a group with the Dinos that he met in high school and became the Los Dinos. They were good, but, in the end, they got treated poorly. They experienced racism and discrimination because they were of Mexican descent. Abraham had the children perform at small shows and sometimes the people didn't like what Selena was singing.
At the age of ten, she became the lead singer in her family’s band “Selena Y Los Dinos.” The band features her brother Abie on the bass guitar and her sister Suzette on the drums. Her father managed and produced for the group and taught her to sing in Spanish as well. At first, she learned the lyrics phonetically then she learned to speak Spanish fluently. After her career took off, Selena gained many fans and with that, she needed to have someone to help her manage her fan club. Yolanda Saldivar was the head of the fan club, but she ended up murdering her because Selena caught on that Yolanda was stealing from her fans. The fact that she had been very influential on her fans, gave Gregory Nava the idea to make a movie on her essence. Due to how well the actors capture the lives of each character and how they contribute to the essence of Selena. Make the believability of the movie fitting because they truly delve into the character they are portraying. Selena is the only movie that holds true to the life events of Selena

By the time she was 6, her father saw talent in her as she sang with purity and perfect pitch as he played his guitar. Their family band was named Selena Y Los Dinos and they started playing at weddings, fairs, and clubs close by. When they barely formed, A.B. III and Suzette hated the rehearsals practice they had every night because they took time from their friends; on the contrary, Selena loved the rehearsals because she had the same passion as her father for music.
After weeks of begging to start up the fan club, the Quintanilla family had finally accepted. Yolanda became president of the fan club and was in charge of Selena’s clothing boutique. “Two years later, the Quintanilla family discovered that Yolanda was embezzling money from the fan club and boutiques, so they had to fire her.” (Wikipedia). Three weeks after this took place, Yolanda called Selena to give her financial records that she had refused to turn over. They met at the Days Inn motel. This meeting proved to be the last for Selena as Yolanda shot the singer in the motel room; one shot to the back which severed an
