Secular Realignment Analysis

According to V.O. Key he states that there are “trends that perhaps persist over decades” (page 1) he feels that these trends will make way for new party processes and decay of old processes. Key believes Secular Realignment is shown through out a various number of elections, whereas critical realignment is set to bring in new voters, new issues and alter voter alignments. According to Key Secular realignment is the best option to follow for a few simple factors. This type of alignment allows for a slow rate of change seeing as how the party process seems to have issues with change in general this would allow for an easy adjustment. Key also feels that with a secular realignment this would take the common tendency of parties for attachments to issues, candidates, leaders and so on. This will force them to change their way of thinking however slow it may be, it will over all change the political culture at a rate that is slower and more acceptable.
I believe that the information in dynamics does offer support to Key’s theory to an extent. Political Parties must continually assess their situations and determine if they need to adjust anything in order to achieve their current and future goals. There has to be a consistent balance to figure out what is good for the party and figure out what is coming from the other parties. When you are a majority you have to assess what is being attracted, figure out if your supporters existing and potential could become a winning coalition. All these factors support the changing coalitions.
In Keys paper it shows the changing of coalitions at various times, it is all due to movements of people. A large portion of the Democratic vote at a certain point came from the Industrial towns...

... take a large part of the flack away from government and those local businesses and allow a slow integration. Hopefully when all is said and done the community will find they are better acquainted, the religions are not forced to service those they feel they are forced to serve as of now.
This solution would serve a few different outlooks to the situation. The community is no longer frowned upon by the lesbian and gay community and keeps the business out of the eye of the community. The extra business would allow for extra income into the community that would have otherwise been denied. Allowing the gays and lesbians to have their own business in the area would allow for more support of homosexual supported businesses. Right or wrong we should be supporting the rights of other rather than allowing government to tell us how we can and cannot live our lives.
