Recommended: Pathology of Scoliosis

Scoliosis affects millions of men, women and children. The spine has curves that allow flexibility. Scoliosis is diagnosed when a person has an abnormally curved spine. The condition is rarely fatal, but it can have a negative effect on a person's daily life.
Scoliosis can cause pain, fatigue and arthritis. Massage therapy can relieve some of the pain associated with the condition.

Causes and Symptoms
Most scoliosis cases have an unknown origin, so they are considered idiopathic. Girls are more likely to be diagnosed with the condition. Most people are diagnosed in adolescence. Adults can be diagnosed with scoliosis, but the condition is usually diagnosed in childhood. Sometimes, the condition can be caused by stress or physical trauma.
