You wake up at 7:10am on a Monday morning, well rested and very alert. You get out of bed, brush your teeth and scarf down some breakfast before heading for school. The walk to your school is just a flight of stairs, leading to your room. As you walk inside your room, your eyes fall towards a complex, yet comfortable looking chair, with a wire connected to a nearby outlet. You sit down casually and the headrest of the chair envelopes your head. In an instant, you are whisked away to a place very familiar to you, Tesla Stem High School. As you approach your group of friends, they catch you eye and wave at you. Above their heads, you can read their name, and grade in a font of their own choosing. One of your friends wanted to mess with a substitute teacher and had …show more content…
After shortly debating on what you would like to eat, you select your order by tapping on the foods you want straight from the menu. As soon as you hit the icon the read “Buy”, your menu turns into a meal. Meanwhile, you are injected with the calories of the foods that you decided to order, and because your lunch was provided from your VR system, the school lunch did not cost anything.
As the final period of the day comes to an end, you wave a goodbye to your friends and step outside of your school, to be you awakened from the inside of your VR machine; it had been a great day.
As you can already tell, virtual reality clearly made your life easier. Instead of having to wake up at six like you usually do, virtual reality allowed you to get precious hours of sleep instead of having to pinch yourself through classes and also made paying attention in class easier. Additionally, virtual reality eliminated the chances of you being late, as it allowed you to skip the long and traffic jammed roads that once lead to Stem. Together, we can still make this fantasy into a

I don't think our school lunch is healthy because it has fat and too much sodium. Although it is good it is fattening it is the reason for much of the obesity in the U.S. Many kids have no other option to eat the unhealthy school lunches or they will be hungry.
Virtual reality can be used as an educational tool to assist not only students but teachers as well. Another major benefit of virtual reality is its use in the healthcare field. It can be used to treat several medical conditions such as anxiety disorders, mental health issues such as phobias, and it can even be used as a pain reliever (Matheison, 2017).
School, to most, has always been a sort of place where some children felt they could escape everything going on back home. Other children enjoyed going to school, while others would dread the thought of such a thing due to bullying. However, in the novel “Ready Player One” Ernest Cline paints a new picture on what schooling could be in a virtual reality platform. His platform solves many of the normal problems we experience with school, such as classroom sizes, behavior and attitudes of the children. Also, adding more teaching styles and teaching tools to help better the learning experience.
Looking around, candy, soda water and junk food are in the hands of fellow classmates. Simply walking down the street countless unhealthy food advertisement are seen and influence our choices as they are intended to do. In America, one in three children, about 22 million children, are obese or overweight, and that number is only rising. The government must aid in the fight against childhood obesity and reform the influence of unhealthy food in children’s lives, increase the availability of beneficial foods, mandate physical education, and inform our children of healthy habits.
I decided to write an editorial for the main reason to persuade people on what childhood obesity is doing to our society and all around the world. Also what my views points and opinions are on this issue. Which this is an issue that is becoming largely spread across the world and is not just a major health issue but also as a large impact on the economy. I wanted to keep this peace quite short and to the point so I decided to develop an editorial which does this nicely. This editorial is targeted to mainly parents that have children which will also have an impact on children since their parents having the correct information on this issue. Throughout this editorial I’m communicating the idea that childhood obesity needs to stop and is an issue which is growing and needs to be dealt with because of the futures generations health.
Food today is high in carbohydrates, cholesterol, tons of saturated fat, and sugar. Now I know all that is good, fast foods sell it cheap and well isnt it around for us to eat. The truth of the matter is that yes you're right, it can be delicious, you can get it cheap and yes it is there to eat but
With the implementation of the “Healthy Kids Hunger-Free Act” schools are not serving as many lunches and participation is decreasing. According to the Government Accountability Office (GOA), “Nationwide, student participation declined by 1.2 million students(or 3.7 percent) from school year 2010-2011 through school year 2012-2013, after having increased steadily for many years”(sec. 1). The school lunches became more distasteful and bland; the combinations of foods did not make sense, and the portion sizes decreased significantly. In order to support the cafeteria
A teacher quoted in the article, Henick said, “The fact that I can virtually take [them] someplace we'd never be able to visit is just a teacher's dream.” (qtd. In virtual reality 1). Virtual reality can let students experience almost everything everywhere, which can open students’ mind for their future. Josh Maldonado, a virtual reality entrepreneur, also said: “We thought that this would have huge implications for education, so we built a little VR field trip through blood cells, kind of like the magic school bus,” (qtd in virtual reality 2). The article states the fact that virtual reality is a good educational tool. Virtual reality teaches by embodying real-life situation and environment.
Since virtual reality is a fairly new concept that many people may have heard about, but have not experienced yet, if it is applied in a clinical setting, people might be attracted and are willing to receive treatment that uses this method. That being said, the visual appeal and the virtual activities allow participants to fully dive into the virtual world; this makes VR a useful tool to provoke motivation and a possible way of enhancing patients’ performance. For instance, elderly people who are sometimes considered not well adapt of technology, have shown interest in engaging virtual activities in some experiments2. In Trombetta and his colleges’ study about using VR to motivate patients with post-stroke conditions, aside from the conventional therapy; all ten participants (61 to 75 years old) have reported that the rehabilitation process was an entertaining experience for their age. The results show that using VR in those sessions motivate the patients to receive conventional therapy. Similarly, virtual activity related product like Wii has received overwhelming positive feedback as well in other experiment3. It is suggested that the reason why old people enjoyed VR could be because they can retrieve their past activity such as volleyball and bowling, whereas they are not capable of doing in real life. From the positive reaction the
Imagine what it would feel like to be in your favorite video game, being completely immerse feeling like you’re literally there. So much so that you forget you are playing a game, that what is going on in the game before you is reality. With VR you can do anything from racing a sports car on a NASCAR race track to surviving a horde of zombies hungry for your flesh. VR is one of the greatest innervated pieces of technology out on the market today.
30 years ago, virtual reality or VR was not even thought of. And now we have advanced virtual reality gaming setups costing thousands. Virtual reality has been around for roughly 10 years now and some say that is it here to stay, while others say it will die off soon. I am a gamer at heart, but have not been around virtual reality enough to know all about it, other than the fact that it is fun and seems like we have only scratched the surface. My goals are to gather a bit more knowledge on current virtual reality tech, what’s to come of virtual reality, and virtual reality’s affect on gaming.

It was finally the first day of school; I was excited yet nervous. I hoped I would be able to make new friends. The first time I saw the schools name I thought it was the strangest name I’ve ever heard or read, therefore I found it hard to pronounce it in the beginning. The schools’ floors had painted black paw prints, which stood out on the white tiled floor. Once you walk through the doors the office is to the right. The office seemed a bit cramped, since it had so many rooms in such a small area. In the office I meet with a really nice, sweet secretary who helped me register into the school, giving me a small tour of the school, also helping me find
