"Did life exist on Mars?"
"What would it take to build a spaceship that could travel at the speed of light?"
"When will the moon be colonized?"
These are just some of the questions that wander through my mind all day. Fascinated by the secrets of the universe, I yearn to uncover mysteries. In order to blast open all the closed gates between knowledge and myself, I need the powerful tools of education.
After I graduate from high school, I plan to attend a college or university that has strong mathematics and science departments. Even now, I am actively preparing to enter the realm of science, taking college-level math and physics classes through the Running Start program. Upon receiving a college degree, my life-long dream is to engage in scientific research for NASA.
Unfortunately, most colleges notable for their academic standards are also renowned for costly tuition. My family consists of one working parent and two children who wish to attend college.
Deciding whether or not you want to attend college is definitely a tough decision that needs to be taken seriously. The financial aspect of college is always the worst and most dreaded part, but it is many times the biggest deciding factor on which school you actually attend. Tuition rates across the United States are completely outrageous, and guess what? They are still continuing to sky rocket. Year by year the cost of college raises by a seemingly small about, but once it all stacks up and the final cost is all calculated up, it may bring you to tears. My question is, are you really getting your money’s worth out of college?
Therefore, I will start dual enrollment at Motlow during high school and obtain a master's degree or doctorate at U.T. or M.T.S.U. I also desire to start a writing hobby, probably of the science-fiction genre. This way, I can live to the fullest.

The debate of nature vs nurture, or whether genetic makeup or environmental impacts determine the thoughts and actions of a person, is a classic controversy that is also prevalent in Mary Shelley’s gothic novel Frankenstein. In the book, scientist Victor Frankenstein irresponsibly creates a man out of many body parts. He is appalled at the sight of the hideous creature with “yellow skin [that] scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath,” and abandons the monster, leaving it full of hate and a need for revenge (Shelley). Frankenstein’s monster was inclined to be murderous due to a lack of nurture from his creator as opposed to having a malevolent nature in his genes. The lesson to be learned in Frankenstein is that monsters are

I have multiple dreams for my future. I hope to enter a superior college that is not too expensive or far away from my home, like Caltech, Stanford, or Berkley. I would like to graduate from college with a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in biology.
There are many families were not able for the chance of college because they could not afford it. An example of this, happened to the Morais family. Richard Morais’s daughter got accepted into John Hopkins University. The whole family was happy, but with the acceptance letter was the cost for all of the expenses. All of the expenses came out to be a total of $54,470 dollars. Financial aid only paid for $6000 which left the family to pay $48,470. This caused the family to take out student loans to allow the daughter to go to college. With her taking out the loans she will graduate being $200,000 in
...bans'. The type of submissive women suggested in your article equates to nothing more than domestic violence, which is as common in America as it is in Afgahnistan, so can we blame Christianity, Judaism, or Buddhism for these acts of violence towards women. Sure the Talibanns' take their beliefs to the extreme but as I mentioned before they are in no way connected to the true Islamic faith. I feel that if weed out the negative aspects attributed to any religion and focus on the positive each person would realize the end result is a closer relationship with God. If I were to go through time and bring about the negative history of Christianity what purpose would it serve? I feel that focusing our attentions on loving one another instead of providing misleading information will help to create an environment of harmony between each culture or religious background.
“Known as the Renaissance, the period immediately following the Middle Ages in Europe saw a great revival of interest in the classical learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome” (History). The word Renaissance is French for rebirth (Sachs 7). The origins can be traced back to Italy in the 14th century (History). Florence, Venice, and Rome grew into major centers in art, due to the changes that were occurring during this time (Sachs 7.) Artists across the country were exploring their newfound creativity and for new ways to express these advanced concepts (Sachs 7). The Renaissance was a time for artistic expression, especially through the eyes of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
In my case, I wanted to go to DePaul or UIC to get my bachelor 's degree; however, I had to go to a community college first in order to get general education and other classes needed for my major because it has lower tuition. However, going to a community college doesn’t solve the problem because even community colleges are increasing tuition every semester or every year. According to Oakton’s website, last year’s tuition for one credit class was $100.10, and now it has increased to $111.25 per credit hour. It is not that big of a difference, but it can be for some students. If community colleges keep increasing their tuition, then students will not have any choice, and they will have to deal with the
There are so many students who would extremely grateful to attend any four year institution but can’t because of the lack of funds. College life can be very stressful, and the process can is very frustrating to most students the first two years. When the cost of college tuition is compared to the 21 century financial economy the cost does not make sense, because for a middle-class family it is impossible to afford sending their child to any four-year institution. It hard for students to graduate with the stress to pay-off hundreds and thousands of dollars in loans. Going to college is stressful enough without the need to worry about how we’re going to pay for it and what other costs will continue to rise with getting a degree afterwards. With the current increase of unemployment rate and the thought of going to college seems like a farfetched goal. Many people choice not to attend a four year institution, because they did receive a scholarship or enough government funding. Having a college background is very important for professional growth, it will eventually limit career opportunities. My stand point is, you may not leave college doing the same thing you began with but the life experience is endless. College experience not only gives knowledge that builds you into a better person by giving a broader erosion. With the cost of tuition increasing will hurt our generation, by causing physical and mental stress but in the end it will all pay off. Not all colleges are for the blame; some of the blame is our economy and other factors play a big roll. As students we need to be aware of all our resources offered, such as Pell Grants, and government scholarships. For example, the some states will pay for a student’s college if they graduate high school with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. There are many states that are willing to pay for all or some of college tuition only if students are willing to use
By using oil paints, Leonardo was able to successfully create a lifelike painting. Since the paints dried very slowly he had time to mix and change all his colors until everything was the correct hue to achieve perfection. The pallet of colors chosen by Leonardo gives a striking contrast between the light face, dark garments, and medium background. By having such strong contrast the viewer is first directed to the face and hands before moving through the whole painting. It also allows definition between areas of the painting (hair and forehead, sleeves and hands, chin and neck, etc…) without having a direct, harsh line.
The “Renaissance” refers to the period in European history when social and political changes were brought about as an interest for classical literature, art and learning spawned in the Italian city states during the 14th century. Revived from the values and intellectual traditions of the ancient Greece and Rome, this era led literary scholars and great thinkers to strive for self-perfection and to replace the predominant Christian church doctrines of the middle ages with the humanistic sentiments of the new age.
If you were a believer in existentialistic ideals chances are you would not participate in society and/or your own life very much. Albert Camus believed that to be a true existentialist you had to remove yourself from society as much as possible since a belief in the foundation of government was to conform. Conforming to society norms is considered bad, it doesn’t allow the individual to progress and reach his own decisions Camus realized, however, that restricting himself from all social conformity was impossible. In his award-winning book, The Stranger, Camus depicts a man with very little emotion. Once in a while he shows a bit of heart, but for the most part, he is gives a robotic appearance. This character is based on existentialistic views, he tries to stay out of society as much as he can. He does the same thing from day to day. The character expresses no feeling about anything except that light is a sign of evil or annoyance, while the dark becomes a place of calm and seriousness. In society, the common idea is that light is good and evil grows in the darkest of places, but in Albert Camus’ novel, evil is good and the light is bad. They’re many other parts of existentialism. Camus influenced many of the writings on this subject although he did not stand unchallenged.
This paper attempts to discuss the main features of existentialist views as well as dissect Sartre's Theory into two parts, analysing its merits and consequent demerit.
