Who would win a battle-a samurai or knight?

As learners of Europe and Japan, the question “ who would win a battle-a samurai or knight” is commonly kept in mind. A samurai and knight are similar in many ways. A samurai would mostly win the battle because they have better weapons, armor, and training. While knights and samurai have many similarities, in a one on one battle, the advantage would be to the samurai and this can be seen in weapons, armor, and training.

The first way that samurai have an advantage in battles are their weapons. In the History Channel Warriors Video by Terry Schappert, A Katana measures about 42 inches of length. The Katana has a slight curve in the blades used for slashing instead of stabbing. The handle is wrapped in sting ray skin and bound with silk or leather so the samurai won’t lose his grip. This shows that the Katana is a strong and is a stable weapon, perfect for a battle. In document C1 written by the PBS series, it says Samurai women did not fight on battlefield but received martial arts training. In document E written by Sir Thomas Malory, it is stated that it was a chivalry knight’s job to protect women. A samurai has an advantage since they don’t have to waste men to protect women and they have more men to fight in a battlefield while knights don’t have that advantage. It also says in document C1 written by the PBS Series that a samurai men also learned martial arts. If a samurai doesn’t have a weapon, he or she can still fight.

In conclusion, a samurai and knight are similar and different in many ways. Even though knights and samurais are similar and different, a samurai would win a one on one battle. A samurai would most likely win because of their advantages in weapons, armor, and
