For many years’ researchers, have looked toward the thought of young men being more likely to commit crime. Roy F. Baumeister made the biggest explanation for this to be because of one’s self-esteem. Roy is stating that self-esteem upon young men is the biggest trigger to why they may carry out acts of violence in many ways. Young men were shown to carry more violent behavior when someone made them feel less of a man or insulted them in turn humiliating them. Roy F. Baumeister’s article named “Violent Pride” focuses on the research they have done to study what may be the biggest reason young men carry this stigma of more violent behavior and of self-esteem being the biggest reason they may lash out.

Rave parties are nothing more than loud music, flashing lights and colors mixed with frenzy all night dancing. The most defining characteristic of the rave culture is the use of illicit drugs. The purpose this group had was to inform how much club drugs were being used mainly within rave’s. Ecstasy is the most common drug found in rave parties. This is still currently known as the most popular drugs within rave’s and the acceptance of this within rave attendees is very common. As “Violent pride” focuses more on the aspect of violence involving young men, “ Toward an Ecstasy And Other Club Drug(EOCD) Prevention Intervention For Rave Attendees,” focuses more on the drugs youth intake going to these rave’s. Both articles highlight the pros and cons of their research with their findings but also both state that due to inaccurate reportings they are unable to have accurate data to prove their hypothesis correct.
