With almost every major literary work of art, there have been many ways that the story has been told. Commonly, movies are made to give us a visual representation of the story. For example, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet has been made into many different movies. There are countless examples of these movies and interpretations. There have been multiple interpretations of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.A few of these include a movie that took place in 1996, a movie that took place in 1968, and a play that took place in 2014. These movies are very different from each other, but they do share many of the same things. For example, the plot is pretty much the same between them all. These are both much more modern than the 1968 version. In both of these movies, the use of motor vehicles is included. At the beginning of the 2014 version, Romeo actually enters on a motorcycle. In the 1996 one, almost everyone in the movie rides in a car at some point. Now, when Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet, he intended for it to take place sometime between the 1500s and 1800s. At that time, there were no motor vehicles. Motor vehicles were worked into the 1996 and 2014 interpretations to make them a more modern translation. This also helps to achieve a better understanding of the story of Romeo and Juliet. The motor vehicles weren’t the only thing that made these two interpretations more modern than the other. For example, the way that the actors dressed was more modern. In the 1996 version with DiCaprio, Romeo wore hawaiian like shirts and such. Another similarity between these two versions of Romeo and Juliet is the acting skills. In both versions, there was very good acting while in the other one, the acting wasn’t so great. This may just have to do with the fact that both of these movies are more recent, so our ideas of good acting have changed. Another similarity between these two interpretations is that they are both interracial. In the 1996 version, Tybalt is played by an african American male, and in the play, Juliet’s family are all played by african american actors.
