Romeo’s Collage Paragraph Romeo’s role in the story of Romeo and Juliet is played as a young man who is the protagonist and falls deeply in love with a girl, Juliet. He is the son and heir of Montague and Lady Montague. In the beginning of the story he was madly in love with a girl called Rosaline. He even risked to go to the Capulet’s party just to see Rosaline as Romeo said “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, But to rejoice in splendor of mine own” (1.3.107-108). That all changed however because when he saw Juliet he asked to himself, “Did my heart love till now?” (1.5.59). During that party he gave a kiss to Juliet and also met her on her balcony after. The last image shows the famous balcony scene, where Romeo went to Juliet’s balcony to talk to her. This scene not only symbolizes love, but also how Romeo can only see Juliet in his eyes and no one else because Romeo said “O, speak again bright angel, for thou art As glorious to this night, being o’er my head, as a winged messenger of heaven” (2.2.29-31). This part also led to an important theme that relates to Romeo, people will do anything for the one they love. Romeo shows this by risking his life just to see Juliet because Juliet said “And the place death, considering thou art, If any of my kinsmen find thee here” (2.2.69-70). However, Romeo responded by saying “And what love can do, that dares love attempt. Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me” (2.2.73-74). This meant his love is so strong for Juliet that Romeo would put himself in a dangerous situation. I am still sticking to the original Romeo actor from the 1990s movie, since I believe Leonard Whiting portrayed Romeo very well.
