Roman Language: The Most Influential Legacy

Ancient Rome has left various legacies to the world, even after the fall of the empire. They were all significant such as language, law, government, art, building, engineering, philosophy and more. Although they are all very effective, there always is the one that is the most important. I think that the Roman language is the most influential legacy. There are quite a few reasons to support it-Latin, Rome’s language, is the foundation for a lot of other languages, words will last the longest, and the alphabet is based off of Latin symbols.
Some of the Latin alphabet looks like “Á” and “É”. Obviously, they look like the modern English Alphabet. Regular alphabet is very similar to Latin script, and majority of the letters are based off it. To this day, almost all languages basically use the ABC alphabet or some variation to it when they write. Also, English is the most popular language around the world. Most tour sites and airports around the world contain English signs translating and telling what to do. Most of the languages initiated from it are classified as the “Romance” languages such as French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. These dialects are used all around the world in many different countries. Latin itself is a dead language, but many people today study Latin so they can learn complex vocabularies and languages more quickly and easily. Abundant amounts of resourceful ancient scripts are in Latin, and historians today try to learn to read Latin to interpret these artifacts. Numerous languages around Europe, North America and South America have Latin roots and have vocabularies that share the same definition and similar pronunciations (or cognates).
