The Roman Empire and today's world, very different worlds, but did you know effects from the Romans are still around today? Three of the impacts can be small things to things we take for granted, like building safety, or building limits, or the laws we follow everyday, or lastly water systems, to blueprints and public squares. The Roman Empire has effected our world in lots of ways, one of the biggest was there government, some of their laws are still used around the world, and in the United States of America. In document 4, the text describes their twelve tables, " The penalty shall be capital punishment for a judge who has been found guilty of receiving a bribe". This shows how it was illegal to bribe a judge,back in Roman times, and is still against the law in today's time. Another major way the Romans have effected our lives is their architecture, they had restrictions that are still vaguely used today. In document 6, it describes how," Augustus organized a militia composed of freed men, whose duty it was to render assistance ", Augustus had also put a restriction on the heights of buildings. In document 2, the picture shows an aqueduct, the Romans system of bringing water to the city, to make sure that they were strong, the Romans used arches and concrete, and in document 1 the text states how Augusts had built a new forum,"In addition he erected so many theaters, porticos, and other buildings...".
