I stood there gaping at the size of the roller-coaster and thought, “I should have never came.” That morning was the day my worst fears came true. My mom brought us to Disney World believing that it was time to have a vacation. Everyone was ecstatic, all except me. I had a fake smile plastered on my face, so no one could see the disappointment that was really roaming inside of me. As I began to imagine the roller-coaster, where numerous people had been before me, a shiver had tingled down my spine. Goose bumps had spread all over my arms and my knees began to tremble as I picture the towering heights of the coasters. We had settled into our hotel before and freshened up after our long ride. I tried faking a stomach ache so I could get out of it. Sadly, my mom clasped both her arms on my shoulders and said, “Ashley, you will be okay.” She had already known that I was afraid, along with everyone else. We had finally arrived that afternoon. The first drop was always the most intense and steepest. I shut my eyes quick hoping that blackening my vision would transport me back to land, but all of it was helpless. I prayed that it would be over and done soon. Suddenly, our cart had whipped down the first fall and made a sharp turn. My eyes were shut the entire time. Eventually, the roller-coaster slowly slid to a stop and a final jerk to indicate the end of the ride. My heart was racing ferociously threatening to jump out of my chest. Christen gently eased my hand from hers. It was then that I realized the strength that I used to squeeze her hands. Our knuckles were both a pale white.
