In the poem, “Acquainted with the Night,” Robert Frost gives us many themes that both relate to the author and the readers. Three themes that stand out are isolation, dissatisfaction, and time. And with these the author is showing us the point of the poem and what he hopes for us to learn and understand. The poem shows that the speaker is very acquainted with the night, in the poem he has no friends or family. He avoids the watchman, who is the only other human being in the poem (Line 6) “And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.” He hears a cry, but the poem becomes even more depressed and isolated when he reflects that the cry is not for him (Line 10) “But not to call me back or say good-bye.” It seems that the speaker is acquainted with
