1 Narrative Rickert Canoe Mysteries One early afternoon in August all my family’s friends [The McKays, Golms, Matthews, Walkers, and the other McKays] and I went canoeing on the Ausable River up north. As the time started to creep up to 3:00pm and we had just finished our canoe trip. Almost everyone was already docked. Or that’s what I thought. The Golms had already taken the van and went back to the cabin. Do we have everyone? What if someone was left behind? That would stink; I wondered. Next, in a split of a second a huge rustic gray van came to take the canoes back to the rental store, and us back to our trucks. This van reminds me of the vans youth takes to church camp.
