Using your knowledge of persuasive writing and rhetorical devices, and what you have learned about public speaking, write and deliver a speech that conveys your stance on an ethical issue. Your speech must include supplemental visuals or digital media like graphics, illustrations, statistics, or video. Please keep in mind both audience and purpose, and use correct grammar and sentence structure. I believe that you shouldn’t take life for granted and you should earn and work for what you want because if you’re just handed something you’ll never fully appreciate the thing you were given. For example if your mom and dad give you a brand new 2015 Mustang worth 32,000$ and you go and crash and total it you’ll expect them to get you another vehicle of close to the same value even if you don’t think you will. But if you work and save up for a while and …show more content…
Let’s say there are 2 guys they both get straight A’s all the way through high school but one boy get everything handed to him and he goes on to have a bad job because he never had the drive to go and make something of his life more than just surviving. But the guy who came from a poor family and had to work hard and sweat for everything that he wanted went on to become a doctor after going to college because he had the drive for making something of himself. Also lots of people do chores but even more expect money or some sort of compensation for doing the chores even if was an easy chore. I believe that people should help to help and feel good for being a good person instead of doing the deed and then getting something for it. For example my friend used to only have to clean dishes once a week and he got 20$ a week for doing that. But I used to take care of 4 horses, 2 dogs, and 20 chickens. That includes rolling a big round hay bale to the horses and cleaning and filling up

Writing a song is certainly a difficult task, there are many techniques used in the making of songs. The artist writes a song very carefully in order to properly convey the message to the listeners. Some songs in particular use a lot of techniques to show the listener their reason for creating the song. There are so many different themes a song can portray. “The Hall of Fame” is one of those songs. The point of this song is to inspire people going through a tough time, and show them they can get through it and become something great. The Script’s song “Hall of Fame” uses rhetorical devices in a way that makes the listener understand that in order to overcome every obstacle life has, the listener has to fight for it.
In 1950, America’s only female senator, Margaret Chase Smith, was the only representative who dared to challenge McCarthy and his harsh tactics for accusing people high in the American government of working with communists. As the speech, more forwards with the issue of Indifference, Wiesel states more personal experience of how indifference split his community to represent addition proof of the negative side of indifference to gain credibility. Nevertheless, he hypothesized that if the nation knew what was having the would have intervene as soon as possible therefore we reach a state when he had proclaimed that if only Americans had bomb those railways just once, they all could have been saved. Here Wiesel body movements turned to a throw down fist as the sense of a tone change appears as disappointed. This Historical fact that lead to the body movement was use to symbolize that all the Americans look over anything that affects them and not others. Wiesel suddenly mentions Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his actions towards this
This week’s reading had so many definitions to memorize. Although, it was interesting to learn about Euphemism and how it is suppose to be intended to spread positive attitude. Just by changing a few words can make the whole expression have a completely different outcome. For example, rather than saying a person has died, you can say departed to make the situation appear better. We use rhetorical devices like Euphemism, to make everything have positive results. While dysphemism is the complete opposite, it’s purposely used to produce a negative effect on someone’s attitude. Chapter four provided many rhetorical devices, which will help in writing better. One of the terms is down player, which is used to make someone or something’s value appear
Sherry Turkle’s article in The New York Times “The Flight From Conversation”, she disputes that we need to put down the technology and rehabilitate our ability to converse with other human beings because we are replacing deep relationships with actual people for casual encounters on technology. Turkle tries to convince young and middle age individuals who are so enthralled by the technology that they are losing the ability to communicate in a public setting. Sherry Turkle unsuccessfully persuades her audience to put down the technology and engage with others in public through her strong logos appeal that overpowers her weak logos and doesn’t reliably represent herself and her research.
The early 1980s was considered the “Golden-Age of Hip Hop”, this due to the fact that the genre was in its infancy and every new record that was released during this time period was seen as an innovation. Before 1982, hip hop records were boastful party-raps that illustrated the perseverance of young African Americans self-confidence even through dire circumstances. After Grandmaster Flash and the furious five released their classic hip-hop record “The Message”, the scope of hip-hop as a genre changed forever. Melle Mel’s verse in “The Message” utilizes Craig Werners 3 step processes by using personal experiences to explain the struggles of African Americans in New York’s inner cities.

During their Presidential debate both Clinton and Trump used rhetorical appeals to gain the voters’ attention and their vote. Rhetorical appeals include 3 elements of persuasion; Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos is an ethical appeal which uses the writer’s own credibility or character to make a case and gain approval. Pathos is an appeal that invokes
Thank you distinguished and honorable Senators for allowing me an opportunity to speak to you today in our nation’s capital. What I am about to share is a tragedy that ends with the loss of a young women’s life. While out enjoying a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco, young and energetic Kate Steinle was tragically gunned down in broad daylight. The gunman is a repeat criminal who we have since found out is an illegal immigrant that has been deported 5 times and had 7 felony convictions. We cannot bring Kate back but we can pass a law that will protect others from another senseless tragedy like this. The bill I am referring to was originally presented by Senator Ted Cruz, Republican Senator from
Through her speech, Queen Elizabeth inspired her people to fight for the country of England against the Spaniards. Queen Elizabeth persuaded the English troops to defend their country with rhetoric devices such as diction, imagery, and sentence structure to raise their morale and gain loyalty as a woman in power.
How are people supposed to take pride in their country when the words spoken to them contain deceit and ulterior motives for war? Peoples’ own languages are betraying them when they are fueled with the intent of going to war with other countries. In “Words and Behavior”, English writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley describes the relationship between war and the human language. His essay claims that words are manipulated to encourage going to war, yet he does not agree with the words of deception that are used to give grounds for going to war. He expresses this through the repetition of “force”, his formal writing style, and appeal to Pathos.
4. Write out specific statements that will assist you and others in making day-to-day ethical decisions.
This persuasive speech was given in Rio de Janeiro, and was a plea to the individuals in attendance at the United Nations Earth Summit to recognize how they are contaminating the environment with hopes that these audience members will revise their future proposals.
