Heinrichs describes at the beginning of the chapter that his mom purchased a pool table for Father's Day. This was despite the fact that his dad has never wanted one. In turn, he realized that the salesman must have used rhetoric on his mom to persuade the purchase. He then lectures on how to identify two tools of ethos: disinterest and virtue.
