Change of Heart, by Jodi Picoult The novel change of heart by Jodi Picoult published on 4th of March 2008; the bestselling list I took it from is USA today 150 bestselling books 2008. June lost her husband in a car accident, in which he left her with their littler daughter Elizabeth. One of the police officers Kurt helps her and they become friends, she then gets married to him and afterward gets pregnant. Kurt decided that he wants to build an addition to their house and June hires a builder named Shay Bourne. After a while Elizabeth and Kurt are found murdered and Shay is convicted with the murder. The trial starts and all the jury agrees that he is guilty and should be sentenced with death penalty however, one of the jury members was hesitant to sentence him, but the jury manages to convince him. Eleven years later shay is moved to the I-tire prison next to the cell of Lucius DuFresne a homosexual who murdered his lover after he found him cheating on him, also he has HIV. Shay tells him that he wants to save a little girl whom he saw on TV who needs a heart. The girl on TV is the daughter of June, Claire who has a terminal heart disease. A lawyer is assigned to Shay when he decided to take his case to court because he needs to change his method of execution in order to donate his heart. His lawyer Maggie consulate a doctor, he tells her that Shay needs to be hanged instead of being killed with lethal injection. And now Shay has two problems to solve; convincing June to take his heart, and win the case in court. June agrees to meet with Shay to discuss the matter, the first meeting is unpleasant, at last she agrees to take the heart after so many times of changing her mind. Claire’s doctor announces that... ... middle of paper ... ...the murder that Shay was convicted of shows its reality at the end, and Shay didn’t kill the man and his stepdaughter he was actually trying to save the girl because when he went to get his tools he found the girl being raped by her stepfather. Also we have Shay’s foster sister who was being molested as a young girl, and the one who was molesting her is her foster father. In May 15th 2008 the Supreme Court in California removes the ban on gay marriage, and that it would be available in June. In the story we have the love of two gay couple and in the story we can see that the author is with gay rights. The character we have is an inmate with Shay who murdered his lover. Another important event in 2008 regarding Gay rights is in 1st of Jan 2008 in New Hampshire a law came that legalized the union of same-sex couples. And the novel takes place in New Hampshire.
Bill goes to trial for the death of Mary and they sentence him guilty. Mary’s mom cried after the verdict was announced. Ralph hears the news about Bill and he begins to break down and feels guilty, he keeps saying that he needs to see Jack. Ralph finally sees Jack and beats him up, which finally escalates till Mae to call the police. The drug raid was busted and all the people involved in the operation were arrested. Blanche tells the police what really happened, that Bill was framed by Ralph and it was all their faults. Bill got off of trail because there was new evidence that corroborated his innocence. Blanche then jumps out of the window right before she was going to either be prosecuted for accessory to murder or going to be used as a suspect against Ralph. Before she actually jumped she reminisced about how she affected and basically ruined Bill’s life since he cheated on her then got his girlfriend killed. Then Ralph is put through a mental institution because they believed he had to be crazy to act the way he did. Then the original guy at the beginning says his last few words about how marijuana could take over anyone’s

* Duncan, Vinny, and Wayne are all friends working - or wasting time - the summer before senior year in high school. Duncan is the soul, Vinny the brains, and Wayne the muscle. At the end of the previous summer, Duncan tried to save a drowning girl and failed. Not being a hero has really affected his life, particularly his relationship with his girlfriend Kim. Also, he is now terrified of swimming, especially when the nightmares come back. Duncan's summer job is with the public transit lost and found. While trying to make the hours go faster, Duncan looks through the items, especially the books and golf clubs. One day he discovers an unmarked journal with no name, which depicts sadistic animal torture experiments, boasts of arson fires, and the planning for the serial killings of three women. Duncan decides to make amends for his failure last summer by tracking down the owner of the journal by using clues left hidden in the diary. After talking with his friend Vinny, Duncan decides to turn the journal over to the police, but they do not take him seriously, so he decides to get help from Vinny, do some research at the local library, and find out where the killer works and lives so they can prove to the police the diary is for real. But in the process when Duncan finds the house of the serial killer, he decides to take a look in it but unfortunately at that very time the serial killer appears and chases Duncan to the subway station. They get into fight there and they both fell on the subway tracks in the station where they get hit by the train. Duncan luckily survives but the serial killer dies.

After April and Roger search desperately for Cheryl, they look for several weeks, and have no idea where she has gone. One night Cheryl’s friend Nancy calls April, and explains that she was leaving with her, but she had left suddenly and believes she is going to do something bad. April remembers that Cheryl told her how their mother committed suicide, by jumping off the Louis Bridge. When they arrive at the bridge a group of people say they saw a women jumped off and commit suicide about five minutes before they arrived.
The constitutional right of gay marriage is a hot topic for debate in the United States. Currently, 37 states have legal gay marriage, while 13 states have banned gay marriage. The two essays, "What’s Wrong with Gay Marriage?" by Katha Pollitt and "Gay "Marriage": Societal Suicide" by Charles Colson provide a compare and contrast view of why gay marriage should be legal or not. Pollitt argues that gay marriage is a constitutional human right and that it should be legal, while Colson believes that gay marriage is sacrilegious act that should not be legal in the United States and that “it provides a backdrop for broken families and increases crime rates” (Colson, pg535). Both authors provide examples to support their thesis. Katha Pollitt provides more relevant data to support that gay marriage is a constitutional right and should be enacted as law in our entire country, she has a true libertarian mindset.
When Tyler 17 and TJ were running in the woods, they were trying not to hit anything weird like 18 snakes in the trees. When Tyler and TJ got to Lauren, there was someone chasing 19 her in the distance. So the three decided to go towards it. When the three got closer 20 they could make out what it was and it was a human figure. The figure got right up 21 to them and then they knew they were in trouble. It was Jason from Friday The 13th. 22 Tyler and TJ were smart they ran when they recognized him. Lauren stood there in 23 complete shock and shaking, but she wasn’t shaking much longer that’s because 24 Jason rose his chainsaw and cut her head right off. Now, he was off to find Tyler and 25 TJ, but little did he know Tyler and TJ saw the whole murder. They stood behind him 26 as he rose his headless body to look in the distance to find the two. Tyler and TJ 27 tackled Jason down to the ground punching and kicking Jason until he was knocked 28 out. The two boys tried to find help and were able to locate two chinese police 29 officer. When they got back to where they knocked out Jason, he was not there. The 30 four were looking around and all of sudden they heard a branch break. They got 31 scared and were freaking out. Then they heard a chainsaw start up. They knew 32 they were going to die now because no one could see where he was at and they 33 heard more branches
This episode of Miscarriages of Justice, veteran investigators reexamine the case of man named Tony Ford. Tony Ford was charged with murder and attempted murder, of four members of the Morelos family. Young seventeen year old Armando Morelos was the murder victim of focus, by which the charges were made in the city’s trial against Ford. This case bring the investors through a whirl wind of emotions regarding the case, when news on old evidence is brought into question just three months before Tony Ford is expecting to receive a date for his death penalty. As Tony Fords’ death row stay comes to an end after seventeen years, the viewer is reintroduced to the case and visits some key players in the trial.

Both were in middle school but Tommie soon got arrested for robberies and gun charges, he was sentenced to life as a juvenile. As time goes on Stewart forms a history of dating bad boys. Many of Brent’s careless and violent actions have caused negative consequences. Brent starts the ball of bad consequences rolling when he goes to a party with his friend Jake. The night starts off bad and gets worse from there. Brent begins to drink, clouding his mind and affecting his judgement. He goes up to his crush Brianna while under the influence and starts to chafe her, causing her to get mad and begin yelling at him. Brent becomes severely depressed and suicidal, and he decides to try and kill himself while supposedly driving home. This is the first of many corollaries that Brent experiences. After his unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide, Brent is informed that he has killed Lea Zamora, an 18 year old girl who is a “...senior at Niles North High School, an honor student, ...volunteer at Resurrection Hospital. "Lost Hearts" written by M R James is a disturbing yet intriguing short story. M R James uses intense descriptions and shows ghostly figures to create tension. Throughout the story unpredicted events take place. Mr Abney’s obsession with pagans and religion makes the reader question why he is so interested about taking in his orphan cousin and how it could benefit him. “The Professor of Greek at Cambridge had been heard to say that no one knew more of the religious beliefs of the later pagans than did the owner of Aswarby.” We learn about the disappearance of the two previous children who had also been taken in by Mr Abney. After the ghostly sightings of the two children with their hearts ripped out, are witnessed by young cousin Stephen, it creates a sense of foreshadowing events and suggests to the reader, the third victim will be innocent Stephen.
