In Revelation 21, the genre is mainly pros-discourse, as it was written by the apostle John. In this chapter, it is mainly talking about how God is going to create a new heaven and a new earth, and the author creates an image for us about what heaven is going to look like. When we reach the end of times, God is going to erase all that is on the earth and bring the Holy city down from heaven to earth. Also, God talks about who will inherit this land, as He declares, “Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. …show more content…

Then, the chapter begins to show an image of heaven, as it explains the twelve gates around the city, and what each gate is made out of. There will be no need for a temple, a sun or moon because God is the temple and he creates all the light for that city to shine. Expanding on this idea, according to A Study Guide on Revelation it states, “Having no sun or moon reminds us that heaven will be a place of pure worship. The things we use to help us worship, but often end up distracting us in worship (such as buildings, music systems, customs, and so forth) will no longer be an issue. Our focus will be totally on the Person we Worship, the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb” (Guzik). Furthermore, this chapter also can give us a lot of insight on who God is. By the declarations God states, and the new things God is creating shows us the power and might God possesses. As John creates an image for us about what heaven will look like, and what God has created for us shows us the love, and perfectionism that God is made out
