Administer School Programs The mission of a Recruiting and Retention NCO in the National Guard is one that is vitally important to the success of the National Guard. The RRNCO’s role is to recruit and retain qualified individuals into the National Guard. It is also within their responsibilities to be the face of the Guard and positively affect the communities in which they reside. There are many aspects of being a Recruiting and Retention NCO, two of those aspects are conducting area canvassing and administering school programs. These two characteristics allow the RRNCO to generate leads and find qualified individuals to join the ranks of the National Guard. In order to effectively area canvass it helps to know the demographics of your area …show more content…
This program will directly target juniors and seniors, since they are looking at the next step after high school. I will set this program up with the school’s guidance consoler since they are the ones who mainly handle career directions programs. Once in the classroom I will wright the word career on the board, the students will then one at a time come up front and wright the career they wish to achieve on the board. After everyone has written their career of choice on the board, I will then take volunteers to wright paths they must take in order to achieve those career goals on the board for example: (go to college, graduate high school, etc...). Doing this will show students different pathways they must embark on in order to achieve their career goals. I will then show them how the National Guard can directly help them though these pathways to get to their overall career goal for example: (education benefits, on the job training, etc…). At the end of the class I will hand out lead sheet, where students can wright down what they liked and what they didn’t like about the presentation, as well as suggestions for improvement. These lead sheet will also have a place for them to place their contact information on it, as well as their interest level and if they want more information about the National Guard. Once I have gotten back to my office I will input my school meeting …show more content…
This will be my busiest quarter, with it being the beginning of the school year. I will have continued to contact juniors, senior, and High school grades though out this quarter. I will be sure to update all lead information in Recruiter Zone. I will have contacted the football coach and volunteered my time to make sure I keep a presence with the sports teams. I will have distributed all desk calendars to teacher with my business card attached, so I can ensure all teachers have my contract information. These calendars also have a list of available National Guard sponsored school programs which teachers can provided to their students. This will also be the quarter in which I set up dates with my schools to administer the SASVAB. In the 1st quarter I will keep up relations with the Chamber of Commerce, and be sure I’m aware of all upcoming town events. The 2nd quarter consisting of November, December, and January will be a little less busy. Just like last quarter I will continue to contact my juniors, seniors and HS graduates, and process all lead into RZ. During this quarter I will focus on getting involved with my winter sports teams. I will also be sure to set up a Veterans Day event at my school, inviting all HS faculty members with emphases on those who are veterans. I will also help out in the community in the form of food drives and charity work during the holiday
Career counselors fill extremely demanding positions requiring an unusual amount of effort to accomplish their mission. The Table of Distribution (TDA) only allows one career counselor position, in every Battalion. The amount of personnel fluctuates between 300-800 Soldiers. As identified above MOS 79S, is currently experiencing a shortage causing an additional workload within a small team of NCOs adding additional stress to an already demanding position. The unique skill set a career counselor possesses are different from any other MOS. Career counselors utilize an automated system called RETAIN. Once a career counselor successfully graduates from the basic career counselor course, they receive access to RETAIN. HQDA and HRC both monitor this system. Only those authorized personnel career counselors have access to this automated system. While a unit can assign an additional duty reenlistment, Noncommissioned officer (NCO) to fill the position they will not have access to
The United States Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) consists of 26 Navy Recruiting Districts (NRDs) spread out throughout the Continental United States. One of the largest Recruiting Districts is NRD San Diego, which consists of 55 recruiting stations spread out throughout San Diego, Riverside, Orange County, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Yuma Arizona. The obvious mission is to recruit men and women to join the United States Navy. According to NRC webpage (2015), their mission is to “recruit the best men and women for America's Navy to accomplish today's missions and meet tomorrow's challenges” (pr. 1), Obviously, NRD San Diego shares the same mission, but there are different set of unique challenges, which trickle up from each recruiting station. Having completed a three year recruiting tour assigned to one of the local San Diego area
I hope to be able to get closer to my goals by becoming a part of this. With SkillsUSA, my college application would stand out to my selected college, so I can have a greater chance of getting accepted and building up my medical career. Also, with the leadership program, I hope to become someone who people look up to for her self-confidence and her positivity, just like I look up to other people. I want to be able to learn how to lead people to be a better person so that they can teach others as well. I want to become someone who isn’t afraid to show that they are smart, and I hope I get this out of

Many times veterans returning from active duty are unaware of the fact that their military training may sell them short in the civilian side of the job market. While there are many positive aspects of hiring a veteran, many times career skills for civilian jobs need to be developed. Career Services can create sessions to successfully integrate the military back into civilian jobs.
Our career exploration class had a guest speaker yesterday. His name was Haul Romer. Mr. Romer was an offshore diver. He had no idea what he wanted to be when he graduated, so he joined the Coast Guard. Mr. Romer’s first job in the Coast Guard was a patrol board in Alaska stationed on an icebreaker. While in Alaska he discovered Alaska had opposite seasons than us and it was always daylight during Winter. While in the Coast Guard, a job came up for a diving job and he tried out, He was later accepted and attended a diving school in Hawaii. Mr. Haul came back to the Coast Guard as a part of the diving crew. He stayed at the Coast Guard for about four to four and a half years longer. After the Coast Guard, he decided he still wanted to dive and he attended a commercial diving school in Los Angeles, California. He came to the Gulf of Mexico and has been in the gulf since 1982. Mr. Haul Romer informed the class of all the extremely
Murphy’s law states that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. As someone who bears the name I can attest the truth in that statement. I have an extremely blessed life and do not endure the suffering that many people do on a daily basis. However, I have bizarre connections to small misfortunes and circumstances that follow me back as far as I can remember. Any acquaintance of mine will attest that things in my life never go as planned and anything that can happen will. Yet through a collection of misfortune, one can still find solace and benefit through their tribulation and see that negative experience could actually be positive.
It is the end of fall and leaves are beginning to disappear and the temperature is dropping. The demands of managing family, school, and work
In the United States Army, there are two categories of rank structure, the enlisted corps and the commissioned corps. The enlisted corps within itself contains leaders, who are referred to as Noncommissioned Officers, or NCOs. These individuals, whose ranks range from Sergeant to Sergeant Major, are responsible for implementing the guidance and command policies provided by the Commissioned Officers and commanders in their units. NCOs are also responsible for the welfare and training of junior personnel. The US Army provides regulations and manuals with step-by-step guidance for the most trivial of tasks, but it fails to spell out specific and concrete information on how to be an NCO.
Every year, newly graduated young adults struggle with the idea of what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Many chose to go to college, some chose to go straight to work, and some will join the military. For those who join the military, they have several diverse reasons on why they chose to join, with attaining the benefits for their college education and on the job training being among the top two reasons (Wang 398). With this in mind, it is important for all service members to be aware of what those benefits are and how it will impact their higher learning. Along with these educational benefits, there are also other areas in which the military makes certain service members are prepared to take on the daunting task of going to college;
This week seemed busier than usual with the additional children being around the center for the spring break. Most of the spring breakers were children that attend public school. I was asked to assist with the spring breakers at one point throughout the week. They were a very entertaining and energetic group, so it was a fun experience interacting with them. As for my class, we had a lot of fun preparing for the Easter weekend. We sang songs, hop around like a bunny, read some Easter books and we even had a surprise visit from our special guest for the week, an actual rabbit.
The student veteran population can be described as an ethnically diverse group of men and women who have served time in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. After service, many veterans seek new careers through the college classroom in the effort to transition into a new phase in their life. Most student veterans are between the ages of 24-40 and are entering the classroom with varying experiences from other student veterans, and are in a different phase of life versus traditional incoming freshman. For many student veterans, they may be the first in their family going to college and may already have a family of their own. As compared to traditional freshman, student
In those years, I would counsel students in individual sessions and provide personal, social, and academic guidance. As a counselor, I would put emphasize on social skills since those tools are vital to be successful in society. Thus, I would develop and establish lesson plans for each grade and I would teach those skills weekly in the calssrooms. As the success of the program grows, I will be requested to teach social skills to the high school to aid to the students periodaclly. After three years, I would transfer to the high school guidance department, where I could gain experience assisting students in the college process. I hope to develop a program named “The College Vision” to expose students to variety of
With all the independence and freedom that recent high school graduates possess, they should carefully ponder the possible options that exist. Through abiding by the “check the destination before the ticket is purchased” adage, high school graduates can competently guide their personal journeys in college life or the real world. Regardless of the path chosen, college students and those who immediately enter the workforce will ultimately decide their future destinations. In addition, while graduates pursue their dreams, goals must be set and diligently fostered. The necessity of a college and/or career game plan is crucial, and should not be disregarded. Before Dr. King ended his “I Have a Dream” speech he declared, “Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.” Similarly, high school graduation is not a finish line, but a starting gun.
Well, I would have to say things have changed for the better….I think. This quarter I actually had some interest in what we were doing. I could do a lot of opinionated things like our reflection things. Normally your 3rd quarter is the worst but not this year in Mrs. Dickson’s College prep. English Class, I ended up doing all my work, well that I know of, and I participated in just about everything. So here we go, I am gonna sum it all up in these next few paragraphs.
