Psychology
My occupation is Psychology, I’d like to become a Psychologist because I like helping people and I would also like to understand why we as humans do certain things. A Psychologist has specific responsibilities and tasks to preform, they need to get information about the job, establish and maintain relationships, and make problem solving decisions. They would also need to Coach others, assist and care for others and also provide advice and consultation to others (Common Tasks).
In this occupation there are three different types of Psychologists. Research Psychologists study people and behavior. They study what people think, do, and feel. Research Psychology would be a major satisfaction in this line of work because I want to interact with the human body. Counseling and Clinical Psychologists help people solve life and mental health problems. They begin determining the level of the patient’s troubles. Applied Psychologists apply psychological theories and research to real life situations (Overview Psychologists). DHS has a Family and Consumer Science classes as well as a Child Development class that can help you understand the way a child develops.
To work as a Psychologist you typically need to have a high school diploma or a GED, a bachelor’s degree, have a master’s degree in Psychology, complete an internship if you plan on doing counseling, and pass a licensing exam if you do counseling (Preparation Psychology). Some specific abilities a Psychologist would need to do is collect information through observations, interviews, surveys. Your Vision as a Psychology Practitioner-Scholar Introduction One of my visions as a psychology practitioner scholar is becoming a clinical counselor. My purpose in psychology is to help people understand their life in a clear distinct way. I specifically want to target children and, help them grow and be more than they have the potential to be. I want to focus on the child development of children based on their environment. I want to be able understand children react the way they do in certain situations.
Child Psychologists - I am very interested in the field of child psychologist, mainly because so many doctors, parents, and school officials only desire that children behave rather than wondering what is making them behave this way. I would love the opportunity to use my knowledge from health psychology, and other complimenting classes to help determine the reasoning behind behavior issues, social ineptness, and emotional needs that children with and without special circumstances deal with on a daily basis. I realize that in order to perform this type of job I have several more years of hard work and dedication ahead. However, I feel that the need is present and in our fast-paced world, it appears to be growing rather than leveling out.

This course has highlighted many attributes and challenges within psychology and its many subfields. Within the weekly research of the psychological subfields I was able to learn the impact of education and its effect on the psychological profession. Along with the applied aspect of psychology listening to the online resource psychfiles, I have uncovered information that has solidified my goal of becoming an art therapist Masters degree. Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior and translates as science of the soul. It is the study of human behavior and deals with how we think, feel, and act. Some areas of psychology are clinical, industrial, physiological, experimental, personality, social, and developmental. Psychologists can work in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation facilities, in public and private clinics or in the research field. They usually treat persons with mental and emotional disorders, so one may ask; why bother with psychology if you do not want to actually work as a psychologist? Psychology deals with the study of mental processes and a variety of behaviors. In order to fully comprehend ourselves, we need to understand the causes of our behaviors and our outlook on life. Habits and behaviors have positive and negative effects in our life. When we know ourselves and learn about our unique personality, we can develop and pursue goals. Psychology also helps us to understand other people and the differences of people. Gaining this knowledge can improve the relationships and enhance our communication skills. Throughout the psychology course I gained knowledge in various areas, and the topics that impacted me the most included: the introvert, anxiety disorders, stress management, self discipline and how to develop strong relationships.
Throughout this course I have learned a lot about psychology. I will talk about how it affected me personally, socially, organizationally/societal, and the lasting impact it had in my life.
