Have you ever called rescue services, to help you? Everyone will call for help, whether it is for a fire, car crash, burglary, and many more. You would want help, right? Rescue services are called from everywhere, to save people’s lives. Now a debate of should people who put themselves at risk receive rescue services has risen. This has become a debate to do the many people dying trying to save people from getting hurt. People that put themselves at risk should not receive rescue services because, climbers are not experienced enough, others are at risk, and the climbers are taking more risk and by doing that they are hurting themselves. People should not receive rescue services when people put themselves at risk, because the climbers are inexperienced. Sure many climbers have climbed a mountain, but Mount Everest comes with high altitudes than other mountains. “Nobody doubts their (climbers) strength and fitness, but they may not know enough about mountaineering and the hazards that high altitudes present” (Moreau 7). While many climbers may have experience of climbing small mountains, Everest has a peak at 29,035 feet. In the novel “Into Thin Air” written by Jon Krakauer, Krakauer goes through his own journey of climbing Mount Everest and how commercialized the climbing of Everest had really become. In his journey he explains how climbers have paid as much as $65,000 to join a guided group that would lead them to the summit. The author bluntly states that some of the novices were not qualified to climb Mount Everest. With this amateurity it only made the journey twice as much difficult and dangerous. Unfortunately, a terrible blizzard struck Mount Everest within minutes of them reaching the top. For all of the climbers on the mountain, the blizzard turned what was to be a successful climb for all concerned into a nightmare. First responders have different challenges compared to the rest of the population. The challenges are due to the motto’s they swear to uphold and the public they serve. They have their own culture consisting of beliefs, language, traditions and values that are specific to their group. They are more likely to witness traumatic events that are outside the norm. They are sometime expected to kill and even be killed, especially law enforcement and military. The culture is very different then the civilian or mental health culture, for example: collectivism versus individualism. Therefore, when it comes to building a relationship with combat veterans and first responders it is essential to understand the culture. Lastly, there are common diagnosis among first responders making it important to use specific assessments. These assessments are used to identify trauma and stress related disorders such as: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Depression, and Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
The Salvation Army is a well-known organization that has a purpose of helping humans however they can (The Salvation Army USA). A lesser known organization, but still an important one, is called Carehaven. Carehaven works to help women and children who have been victims of abuse (Rajh-Gopaul). These groups use a powerful visual of a bruised woman to effectively show the lack of attention and care for victims of abuse. This PSA encourages the viewers to take action, whether they need help, or they are willing to help others. Emotional appeals, logic, and relatability help these organizations to inspire their audience to be aware of the abuse that is so commonly overlooked.

Growing up I always had to deal with the fact that my father was involved in the military. My father was deployed twice: once in Germany, and later to Kuwait. I was only four years old when he first traveled and almost every day I asked where dad was. The second time I was fourteen, and I was devastated that my best friend wasn’t going to be home for a year. Both times he left, it was awful for my mom, my brother, and me because he was the one person that kept us together as a family and once he was gone we were just broken. A military family goes through more than a regular family does in a year. Those veterans have families, how do people think they feel. Children who live in a military family have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental issues. Although many people believe that we should send our soldiers overseas to keep our country safe, there is no reason why our
What is the purpose of police officers? Are they here to provide safety for the people or are they here to just mess up their lives? All around the country the statement “protect and serve” can be seen on any police vehicle and any police building. But more often times than not the question arises, who are they truly protecting? Themselves or the helpless citizens of The United States of America. Over the past century crimes rates have sky rocketed; although these crimes are not being committed by your everyday criminals they 're being committed by the police officers that are suppose to be protecting the people. Climbing makes for a difficult expedition, you need to give up the wrappers when you was ascending. You need to give up the heavy things, you need to give up your wrappers, and you need to give yourselves. Sometimes we need to give up our lives to climb the mount Everest. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country” (-General George S. Patton Jr). Here within our borders we are the lucky ones, we have been blessed with the pleasure of so many brave men and women; to volunteer in the world's greatest military; and put their lives on the line for something that they believe is a moral obligation. But, think of some other countries, that have conscription (the practice of ordering people by law to serve in the armed forces) laws. We as a nation have some laws on conscription, and if you are male and above the age of 18 you have already signed the slip of paper stating that in the time of war; if our great nation re-instated the draft then there is a great chance you will be serving on the frontline of the next Great War. This brings me to my first topic of this page, is it ethical to have a draft? My second topic that I will discuss will be on if it is morally acceptable to "draft dodge". What I mean on the second topic is if you have a right; that morally allows you to not go fight in the war.
Ultimately there is no specific reason to blame for the disaster that happened, nevertheless greed, selfishness, erratic weather and misinterpreted information contribute to the deaths. Conclusively, most of the climbers themselves that died hold a great responsibility for their own death for the sake of their lack of knowledge on what they were encountering for their greed along with their selfishness. In a newspaper article, by The Seattle Times, titled Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers on Mount Rainer, Nick Hall, a climbing ranger, “…fell 3,700 feet to his death…after helping rescue two climbers who had fallen into a crevasse, according to a park news release.” Even if rescue services do come to help, they could lose their lives due to other people’s poor choices. People need to learn the consequences of them climbing, inexperienced. People do get rescued, but besides the rescuer who lost their life, is affected, their friends and family are affected, too. It is not right for someone to die just because of another person.
We are living in an advantageous world, With technology, and enough money to be in a reliable economic situation. Yet people live on the streets everyday. Homelessness is a rising issue in all parts of the world. The disturbing reality of the number of people living on the streets has become the harsh truth and has been considered the norm. The exact amount of homeless people living within our world is hard to come by. However, the evidence supporting the issue of the homeless being problematic is plentiful and powerful. Homelessness is seen as an issue that occurs mostly in developing countries, on the contrary, homelessness occurs everywhere. Canada, being one of the most developed countries has one of the highest rate of homelessness within their nation. With the amount of money available today it should be no problem to find solutions and to provide adequate futures for the homeless.
