Every horror genre does this through the psychoanalytic theme’s they implement into their films. Psychology is a major factor used in these films due to its easy ability to penetrate the viewer 's mind. The films tend to target; anxieties, fears, and fantasies which impose intruding thoughts and feelings into audience. The horror genre commonly exemplifies paranoid feelings through religion, mythical fiction, and relevance in our daily lives. Religion is hybridized in horror, using its mythical approach to bring forth negative feelings on religion. Religion commonly used in horror films tend to focus on black magic, and rituals, leaving the viewers wondering about their own religious beliefs and society. Movies with evil and horror can affect a person’s personality, thoughts, and behaviors. The effect of watching extreme ideas of horror can linger in a person 's mind and self-conscious, no matter their age. Horror brings the viewers to the edge of their seats and leave them shaking. The hormones called dopamine adrenaline are released when watching a horror film. Movies goers that are prone to panic attacks could be putting themselves at a psychological risk, when watching a horror film. So many different elements have been known to appear in horror films that it is often times difficult to define what is explicitly a horror film and what is not. Due to this ambiguous definition of horror the genre is often times divided into subgenres.
