In a recent reading of an article titled “Relationships 2.0: Dating and Relating in the Internet Age, by Ted Sawchuck,” the author talks about some of the benefits of online dating. Some questions that arise from this article include but not limited to what the negative effects on the younger people are as far as to socialize, or how about what effects contribute to developing and maintaining a healthy relationship? Online dating is much easier to do than meeting in person. A person can learn many things about someone before even speaking to them. There are benefits to online dating as well as disadvantages. The most common form of internet use for social media includes Facebook. Facebook has exploded in demand in use of it ease of getting to know someone. Being able to socialize has become more depended on Facebook, and why not. A good ninety seven percent of people have a profile; this makes it easier to get to know someone without them even knowing it. Facebook has effectually removed the need to first meet people. The author Ted Sawchuck in a quote: “It allows a user to conveniently connect online with people, make friends, and join interest groups via his or her computer. It also allows a user to learn more about his or her friends, as well as post text, photos, video links, and information.” (McWhorter 356) tells us just how easy it is to stay in touch with each other. Because of this some people if not all have lost the ability to get to know someone in person, such as what to ask and how to read body language.
