Reflective Self Analysis When this year began, the sound of a writing class made my stomach cringe. In my first semester, I took writing comp one and was able to pass with a decent 85. I came out of that course with more strengths than weaknesses than I initially had. I was then startled when I was told that my career of writing in college wasn’t over. I had to enroll in writing comp two. I then prepared for the worse and became worried due to my feeble writing skills. Prior to the first day, I reviewed the syllabus to become more familiar with what I was about to dive into. I noticed that most of it was similar to last semesters criteria only more argumentative based. I went through the course and completed each essay. With each one came a new strength or weakness. I like to think that the word “drug” alone is a hook when it comes to papers. In any example, it turns out to be very interesting. The beginning of this essay was just filled of pure information that would then set up the body. Each paragraph in the body of the paper had its’ own kind of subject, and in each one was the same problem. Many times, sentences were unclear and not a good length. A simple comma and conjunction could’ve cleared most of it up. After reviewing the essay, this seemed to be the only flaw a long with the repetition of a single word here and there. When comparing this judgement to that of my professors, they reflected each other. Strengths were all over the place. I was actually able to write a decent amount this time. My grammar use was the only thing that was a bit shaky. Other than that, things like punctuation and style were good compared to the similar essay in my prior semester (Muniz, “The Cause and Effect of Using Crystal Meth” Final).
