Making mistakes is part of learning. I hear that a lot, but reflecting on your mistakes and how you got there is far more important. This ensures you do not repeat them. Over the course of the semester, I have made a lot of mistakes. I realize this and have drastically improved how I process information given to me, and reconstruct it into a flow of words to create my essay. I have certainly become better at integrating transitions into my essays, along with adding more explanatory sentences following a quote, and finally adding more to the introductory part of my essay to help the reader understand the context. I will continuously challenge myself by spending more time critically analyzing my points in my essays.

When it was read it sounded like I was listing bullet points off a powerpoint slide. I wrote, “The narrator tells us he was robbed, yet it is okay because he learned a skill. Having a positive outlook on life is essential for good mental health.” (Patel). This sentence feels like it has no real meaning or emotion behind it. I failed to convey what I had felt when the artist attempted to convey his own message through this music. Contrasting to my recent essay about Paul McCartney 's humanitarian efforts, I use more powerful words. Take this excerpt for example, “Aside from inspiring generations of music to come, artist McCartney is a well-known figure throughout the world, although known for his role in the Beatles rather that his conducive work as a humanitarian.” (Patel). Using phrases like “inspiring”, and “well-known figure throughout the world” can really deliver a point about what I am trying to express.
