“Bullying is a repeated behavior which is intended to hurt someone either emotionally or physically, and is often aimed at certain people because of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation or any other aspect such as appearance or disability”. Bullying comes in many forms such as verbal, social, physical or cyber bullying. Bullying is an event that is often seen in schools today. Children bully for various reasons like the need for control and power, to gain peer attention, bias issues, inadequate adult supervision or maybe they themselves have been bullied. I intend to integrate different ways of preventing this anti-social behavior in the aid of promoting a positive classroom environment with the use of differentiated instructions. Firstly, I intend to set an example by being a positive role model to my students so they can embody my examples by treating all students with warmth and respect. A special time in each day would be appointed to give students the opportunity to talk about bullying because, most times students are afraid or too embarrassed to speak up. And letting them know that I am available to listen and help. Students would be allowed to participate in the classroom rulemaking process, to inspire their interest in following them. Each day at the beginning of class the rules would be revised in the effort to remind students what is expected of them. They would be informed that there would be consequences to their actions toward breaking the rules. Immediate action would be taken against any rule broken, this is to remind students that each rule should be taken seriously.Classroom surveys would be conducted asking students to reflect on their social experiences, to reassure their understanding of bullying. Some educational ways that would be used in preventing bullying among students in my classroom would be by instilling values. Value is an important subject on the topic of bullying, it encourages students, to practice honesty, kindness, politeness, sharing, caring, obedient, forgiving, love, fairness and much more, which will in return help promote positivity and discipline in the students.
