My Keirsey Temperament Sorter results indicate my personality type is that of a Guardian and make-up about 40 – 50 percent of the population. Guardians use their skills to keep everything running smoothly, have a lot of fun with family and friends, but serious when it comes to responsibilities. Characteristics include dependable, humble, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, hardworking, and stabilizing leaders. I’m the type of person that follows schedules and deadlines, but also likes to have fun and enjoy life. There should be a balance, and like the saying goes, work hard and play hard.

In “ Review of Stanley Milgram’s Experiments On Obedience” by Diana Baumrind, and in “Obedience” by Ian Parker, the writers claim that Milgram’s Obedience is ethically wrong and work of evil because of the potential harm that the subjects of the experiment had. While Baumrind’s article focused only on the Subjects of the experiment, Parker’s article talked about both immediate and long term response to experiment along with the reaction of both the general public and Milgram’s colleagues, he also talks about the effect of the experiment on Milgram himself. In reading “All the pretty horses” by Cormac McCarthy, we are introduced to the protagonist John Grady Cole. At the beginning of the story, John Grady is attending his grandfathers funeral in the ranch that he now shares with his mother. John Grady Cole, grew up in world where being a cowboy meant freedom and a ever growing relationship with the one thing he cared about more than anything… horses. The story seems to unravel in the early 1950s when the old west began to evolve to the new ways of the west and the definition of what made a man a cowboy increasingly blurred. As the story evolves, it becomes evident that the selling of his grandfather’s ranch leaves Grady feeling adrift and incomplete. Henceforth, he deicides to set foot on his own and find a new place to call his home. We see that the loss of his grandfathers ranch and the passing of the old west he knew, serves as a reflection of how John Grady’s character attempts to maintain this cowboy lifestyle that he witnessed growing up . John Grady Cole’s character tough young, serves as a hero in his journey of becoming a man. Combined with his passion and idealistic mentality, his love for horses and the open plains of Texas/Mexico sets him off into new adventures. Realizing that each scenario encountered paves the way towards a journey of harsh reality, this story serves as one of growth and the passionate search of the old cowboy life. Grady sets out on a journey to Mexico with his comrade Rawlins riding off into the sun with hopes of finding a new home; they rode in hopes of regaining their sense of beloning.
Overall, the INTJ type is an accurate description of my personality. I concur with the assessments that INTJ’s do not “take criticism personally” and they are not “afraid of hard work, and will put forth a great deal of effort towards something that they are interested in” (INTJ Personal Growth, 2014). I am confident in my own abilities and take no offense at work if others are able to show me a better/easier way of performing a task (as long I am approached professionally). Additionally, I am usually whole-heartedly committed toward efforts when I see the importance or benefit from such actions. For example, if I need to put in a few 15-16 hours days to ensure the job is done on-time and correctly I will do so without much thought. My temperament of “NT” also known as the “Rationals” is consistent with what I see in myself (The Four Temperaments, 2014). Three aspects of my personality are avoidant, high on conscientiousness and a high need for achievement. These personality characteristics were studied using different theories, the attachment theory, Big Five, and the motivational theory. Together, these aspects make me who I am. I am someone who is driven, hard working, disciplined, and has a hard time trusting and letting other people into my personal life. Based on what I have observed I would conclude that vision and touch are the two sensory systems most important for the animal to function successfully in its environment. I believe this based on the surrounding nature of the stables, pasture, number of horses and farm life. There are 19 other horses and 5 staff aside of the stable owner. A horse in that respect needs to have vision of what is going on in its surroundings and personal space. Likewise horses rely on touch and the ability to feel to keep their selves from harm and to gain more awareness of their surroundings.
I am responsible, in my job and life. As a maximizer, I focus on long-term goals and strive toward excellence. As a nurse, working in an environment of change, the strength of my personality allows me to adapt easily and figure out the best way to accomplish tasks (Strengths, 2012). I also took the DiSC Work of Leaders Profile to analyze my style. The results indicate I fall between Steadiness and Conscientiousness, leaning more towards Steadiness which gives me the style SC.
My personality type is Extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceptive or ENFP. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling. This assessment is consistent with the results that I received in part I of the exercise. I am an extroverted person who enjoys being around and working with people.

However, Edwin Muir’s ‘Horses’ is a poem of past memories. The The interesting part is that it deals with many conflicts and issues which are prevalent even today. It is thus a bridge between the past and present and expressed in the form of a piece of literature. Muir himself said that in writing about horses in this poem, he was reflecting his childhood view of his father’s plough horses, which must have seemed huge, powerful and mysterious to a boy of four.
The trait I believe I reflect most is caring. I am always available when my friends, or even strangers, need help. I hope that I am a good person for someone to talk to as I am open-minded enough to never judge someone for their misfortunes or wrong doings. This brings me to the other trait I relate to most, which is open-minded. I believe that I am able to understand most people’s point of view in situations even if they seem to be in the wrong. Two other traits I relate to very much, however not as much as the aforementioned traits, are knowledgeable and risk-taker. I am knowledgeable not only in the sense that I am intelligent but also that I am on a journey of seeking higher knowledge and the secrets the world has to offer me. Knowledgeable can help me in my area of risk-taking by allowing me to not take risks that will produce a dangerous outcome. I am a risk-taker in my personal life more than my educational one because I find joy in new experiences and enjoy being adventurous and taking risks. The traits that I particularly relate to are balanced, a thinker, and reflective. I view myself as a thinker due to the immense amount of time I spend pondering the spiritual aspect of life. Although I would possibly describe myself as a thinker, I would have a harder time describing myself as reflective because I prefer to live in the now and not reflect back onto my sad past. Balanced is a trait that I see in myself but I also me failing at being balanced always. I tend to balance time between friends poorly, however not by intention. Also, I need to work on balancing my time spent on projects and assignments in school. The traits on the list I relate to the least are principled, inquirer, and communicator. The Keirsey Temperament Sorter was created by Dr. David Keirsey, a clinical psychologist. It is a 70 item, questionnaire that is geared towards a person’s preferences and temperaments in the world we know. It figures out, based on your responses, if you are an extroversion or an introversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving. According to the test, I am an idealist, INFP, an introversion, intuitor, feeling, and perceiving, my motto being “making life kinder and gentler” (Wall, 2008).
I on the hand tend to make time for everything, even my family, because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. My results from the personal assessment was that I work better when I know I have support. To summarize, I see myself as worthwhile, like I have a purpose in life. With my career goal chosen not only, will my personality help me to succeed beyond my goals, it will also open new doors for me as well. I’ve always had the passion to help people ever since I was a little girl, but I just didn’t know how.

After taking the personality test, I learned my general personality type is “The Consul” (ESFJ-A). Individual traits of my personality type are more extroverted than introverted, more observant than intuitive, more feeling than thinking, more judging than prospecting, and more assertive than turbulent. The results of the personality test offered insight into my overall personality type and its social and workplace implications.
