Reflection On Mentor Teacher

As I observe my mentor teacher and his classroom environment, I have come to realize the types of characteristics that are being presented from his students. As the students enter the classroom, they hold a privilege to have their homework and binder work ready. There are certain rules in which they have to follow everyday when they step inside the classroom. They have to be attentive to what they are doing and making sure they understand what they are responsible for doing. As I entered the classroom the first time, I noticed that there was enough lighting to see the whole room. They help the students when they are stuck on a problem or do not know what formula or equation to use for their assigned homework. An important detail I viewed was how rare students did not use their technology. I saw minimal chromebooks being used as well as fewer students using their phones. The only thing I saw was students actually doing their work and using the guidance of their calculators for their problems. As for the teacher, he mainly uses his projector to display binder work as well as lectures for the students to take notes. This showed me that the teacher bases his teaching and learning more on technology use than the students do. I feel that the design in which the classroom is displayed comes with many pros and many cons. Some of the pros include having students whose desks are faced forward and against another students, which helps them pay closer attention solely on the teacher and less on their peers. An important con that is demonstrated is the room seems that it has more desks than space for the students to place their backpacks as well as space for individuals to pass
