Introduction
In this generation, the family structure in Asia is fast changing. Unlike the past, women are playing an increasingly important and significant role in their homes. This could be due to higher educational opportunities open to them, thus paving the way to their financial independence. Through this assignment, I will be analysing this statement from my Personal Perspective, the National Perspective, and the Global Asian Perspective.

Some even got scholarship to study in top schools which will eventually help them to get good job. This proves that more and more women have higher educational opportunities than before.
In this generation, I can also see that women are getting more and more opportunities of getting good jobs due to their education. Some women even have better jobs and position than man and have good income too without getting judge on what they can do by their gender, proving that women are starting to work their way to their financial independence.
Besides that, I also notice that women have greater rights than before, giving them more choices and options to decide on what they want to do. This proves that women are as equal as men today.
Other than that, more and more women are involved in politics now while last time, there were only less than 5 per cent of women involve. Last time, women’s political roles were only campaigning and voting. This proves that women are getting more rights in politics.

In 2000,75.8 per cent of the women were paid employees as against 56.3 per cent in 1957. Along the same line, the proportion of females who were own account workers declined from24.6 per cent in 1957 to 11.9 per cent in 2000, an indication of improving the quality of women’s employment. Women as unpaid workers also declined from 19.1 per cent in 1957 to 11.5 per cent in 2000 although they still comprised more than two-thirds of all unpaid family workers. This proves that, not only are women paving their way to financial independence, it also proves that one most likely cause for women being able to is due to the increased educational opportunities open to them.
In conclusion, through a National Perspective, the following statements are true:
- Women had more educational opportunities open to them compared to before Malaysia’s independence.
- Women can play more important and significant roles after getting more rights from the Malaysian government.
