In the first week I have learned about various health and safety issues of the community and its impact on the community. I also learned about participant observation, which is an important method of data collection in qualitative research, as well as various data collection methods of qualitative and quantitative studies. While exploring qualitative and quantitative studies, I have learned how to identify quantitative and qualitative studies. I also learned about how to make a quantitative and qualitative research question using the PICOT format as well as studied various research designs and randomized controlled studies. While studying about theory and variables, I learned about independent and dependent variables, qualitative and quantitative studies and its importance in research, trust worthiness, reliability and validity of research studies. …show more content…

Learning about Tuskegee syphilis study helped me to understand about various ethical issues and its significance in healthcare. Learning about descriptive statistics, inferential statistics and research summaries such as meta-analysis, meta-synthesis, systematic research reviews, clinical practice guidelines, and care protocol helped me to identify the level of research evidence and where to seek the evidence in order to find an answer to my clinical question. Gaining more knowledge about Evidence Based Practice (EBP) brought knowledge about its importance in nursing and how to apply evidences into practice. I do learned about various EBP models and its application. Lastly I have learned about how quality and safety of the care can be improved while reducing costs and the importance of family involvement in patient
