Reflection Essay On Trigonometry

Trigonometry involves using sides and angles of triangles to make calculations. The first semester of Trigonometry has been very informative. I held very high expectations for myself throughout the course. The class itself moved at a good pace. My assignments and work were graded fairly. I especially enjoyed how we took our notes. Each of the examples were covered in detail and homework was given after each section for a review. The quizzes were based on important points every student should have learned in the chapter. Most of the subjects we covered were fairly easy to understand and pick up. However, there were a handful of sections that were tricky and required some extra time to learn. My favorite topic is about right triangles. They …show more content…

functions were my least favorite topic. They were covered in Chapter 4, the last chapter to be discussed in the first semester. I studied the graph for each function. They each had a certain uniqueness to them. This was not a remarkable topic for me because of all the facts that each graph contained. For instance, tangent and cotangent graphs have a period of , while the other four graphs had periods of 2/B.Sine and cosine graphs were the only ones with amplitudes. Cosine and secant were the only functions that had odd graphs. A second reason why this was not my favorite topic was because of the information required to completely solve each problem. On many of the examples covered in class, a special graphing sheet could be used. All applicable parts on the sheet had to be filled out. Items on the sheet included: amplitude, period, midpoint of an interval, horizontal and vertical translations, reflections, table settings, and window settings. Although the information was not difficult to locate, I sometimes forgot where to look or how to find something. My last reason of not liking this topic is that I had to draw all of the graphs. The only problem was that it was a bit time consuming. I felt like it took a good amount of time to scale and draw each graph properly. Of course, I was not the best at creating the correct window and table settings in the first place. However, I did not let this become a major issue. I eventually learned how to pick out pieces of information and put them where they belong. Out of everything that was covered in the first semester, I can personally say that this was one of the
