Being a part of Residential Summer Bridge 2015 has showed me a different way of life. I have learned that I need a lot of help with my academics. I believed I was a really good scholar when it came to academics but my grades have shown me different. I have created a different life style because before Bridge I wouldn’t do my homework assignments or even study. Every weekend I would go out and go to parties and do non-beneficial things. Now I stay in and do my homework because I have learn to do my school related stuff first and if there is time left them I could have fun. I have learned to get want I need and not what I want. I have learned many communication skills thought out Bridge like being mindful of what I say because I may not be
I have learned that I can disrespect someone with my body langue and with my attitude. I have notice that I can communicate with people I never imagine I could have socialized with. I learned it is not bad to ask for help but good so you could understand a topic. I am thankful for all the Bridge staff that has made my experience unforgettable. I am thankful for my residential mentor Seairra Ford who has helped me grow as a person and transition from a caterpillar to as butterfly. I am thankful for my academic mentor Maria Tirado for not given up on me and for pushing me to do better thought out this experience, for calling me out when doing something bad and for making me realized stuff I didn’t see from my perspective and for being there for me when I need her. I am thankful for her putting up with my craziness. I am thankful for Professor Omatsu for putting up with me and for showing me stuff I didn’t learn in high school.
Personal Development, one of the core values at Saint Leo University, plays an important role in students’ daily lives. From the moment you step foot on campus to the day you graduate, you automatically become a different person. As a first year student, you are entering a new life and not knowing what to expect. Once you are in college, it is the start of a new chapter. You will become more mature and all the obstacles that you will go through will make you a different person. In order to have a successful Undergraduate experience, it is crucial to have a balance between personal life and school. Your personal development will strengthen your academics and the community. The Campus Life Handbook states, “Saint Leo University stresses the development of every person’s mind, spirit, and body for a balanced life. All members of the Saint Leo University community must demonstrate their commitment to personal development to help strengthen the character of our community” (Saint Leo 1). Based on the Saint Leo core values, personal development, responsible stewardship, integrity, respect, and community exemplifies Medea’s character as a Hero devolving throughout the play.
I am currently an English 160 student who is hoping to move on to the next course, which is English 161. I understand the requirements for English 161. It require students to explore a topic in some depth and conduct independent research related to that topic. Conducting research allows students to learn what it is like to participate in academic culture, posing questions about important issues and developing an argument in response to what others have said. It expected students to learn the most valuable skill in college, which is critical thinking. Students have to be able to read challenging readings. Although I still have problems with English, I think I’m qualified to move on.
Finally, I learned how to be more responsible by myself. In my last classes, my teachers were technically always there to tell me step by step what to do and how to do my assignments. In a certain way, it made me kind of lazy and entirely dependent of my teachers. However in this course it was not like that; instead, my instructor just gave me the assignments, instructions, and deadlines, and I must write my essays and summited it on time. This absence of guide absolutely made me to react that it was time to me to do my assignments by myself, demonstrate what I know, and ask for help just whenever it is
Walking into Walnut Hills High School right now would have anyone thinking the just walked into the middle of a tornado. Everyone you look there are students running in and out of doors, in and out of cars, and most certainly either turning in missing assignments or retaking tests. There is only one way for you to explain all this ciaos, Senior Year, the year that all teens await with so much excitement and ambition and the year that every single hour long study dates pays off. For the class of 2021 this isn’t just their final year at Walnut Hills this is the year that friends separate and head off to their different university to follow their dreams.
It has helped me fully understand mental health and how an individual might struggle with mental illness. I will say, the semester was fast paced and very challenging at times, but it helped me focus and study everything more in depth. I loved my time at Grief Camp and what an amazing experience it was being able to help children cope with the loss of a loved one. Being able to grow together as a family at the ropes course was a good experience as well. We were all able to see how each person needed help during the tough situations. ETBH, wow, is all I can say! Thank you so much for allowing us to have a clinical rotation there. It was a joy getting to meet new faces and building relationships with patients there. The trip to the ARC was great too; I enjoyed getting to know my consumer and being able to communicate with her. I loved seeing all of their faces light up during the human pipeline activity! You could tell that they truly enjoyed our appearance there that day. Terrie, thank you so much for the wonderful time you provided for me this semester! It has truly been fun, educational, and enjoyable. Can’t wait for next semester! Overall, I think I learned that in order to enjoy new things and new experiences I needed to push my boundaries. I will never know if I truly don’t like something if I never try it. Even though I don’t listen to country music very often now I have a new appreciation for it.
Let’s flash back in time to before our college days. Back to then we had lunch trays filled with rubbery chicken nuggets, stale pizza, and bags of chocolate milk. A backpack stacked with Lisa Frank note books, flexi rulers, and color changing pencils. The times where we thought we wouldn’t make it out alive, but we did. Through all the trials and tribulations school helped build who I am today and shaped my future. From basic functions all the way to life-long lessons that helped shape my character.
Whether it has been the classes, the relationships I’ve created, or the immersion road trip experiences I was fortunately enough to go on, I have continuously learned more about myself. I firmly believe that the iSchool was putting me on a nice trajectory to not do something I can succeed in and love, but also give me all of the tools that are needed to step in day one of a
My first semester at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has been everything that I expected it to be. I knew it would be strenuous to move to a new city totally different from what I had grown up in. I also know that this would put a strain on making new friends, keeping up with my social life, maintaining a healthy mental and physical and healthy lifestyle, and achieving my goals - nonetheless, I have managed to do all of these things and have a splendid time doing so.
Chapter 10 is entitled Conflict Management in Groups. This is a very essential chapter for all members of a group to read and understand. Fortunately, my group members and I have not had a problem with getting along. It just so happened that four members of my group already know each other from another class they are in together. So, they already got along and had some connection with one another. I think we all have good personalities and we enjoy working with each other. The characteristics of our group allow us to be a successful group. The semester is coming to an end, and we have worked hard together to perform all tasks and accomplish all our goals. Getting to the stage where we are now involved a lot of comprimising and negotiating. So, the two terms I would like to concentrate on from Chapter 10 is comprimise and negotiation. To me, comprimise is meeting someone half way. You may have to adjust some of your beliefs or ideas to fit the beliefs or ideas of another group member. the book defines comprimise as a middle ground. You show a moderate concern for both task and social relationships in groups. The next term I would like to look at is negotiation. I would define negotiation as giving and taking to reach a common goal. The book’s definition of negotiation is a process by which a joint decision is made by two or more parties. After researching information for my group project and listening to another group’s presentation, it is evident that everyone thinks comprimise and negotiation are very important. There was a strong emphasis on avoiding conflict in the group
Do you realize how much you have learned in just a short few months? Maybe you don’t realize it, but once you reflect about it, you will soon find out that you took more away from school than just a nap or two. It’s not only reading from a textbook and listening to lectures that count, but also the life lessons and preparing yourself yourself for college and starting a career. You might not want to think of high school this way, but it is the stepping stone for college.
To our instructors, thank you for sticking with us, for insisting that we not give up. That we strive to be, not only, the best nurses we can be, but also the best people we can be. You ladies never gave up on us, you pushed us through, and here we are graduating. And for that I, no we, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Also, we would like to thank Linda Sanford, for stepping up to the plate and getting us to where we needed to be.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work in see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded. Some of the skills I had shocked me as I didn’t think I had those capabilities in me.
Through these fun and challenging times each one of us has built strong relationships. Whether it was with friends or a teacher, we have developed connections and memories that will be with us forever, even if we lose contact with those individuals. Some students have discovered they have a passion for writing through a creative writing class or want to have a career in business from taking Mr. Ide’s inspirational marketing classes. Others have participated in CLIP or summer school to catch up and make it possible for them to be here today. I went to Heights Elementary and have spent the last 12 years with the same group of people. Attending school with the people I’ve known since elementary and middle school, and making homecoming posters with them for four years in a row, has given me a chance to get to know the people around me better than I ever thought I would.
Much like Benjamin Franklin believed, I feel that a person should take advantage of the time the person has in life with activities a person wants to do or needs to do. A person should not spend much time on activities the person does not want to do. Life is way too short to concern oneself with work or other activities one wants nothing to do with all the time. When possible, I try to forget about my responsibility and just let go of the ‘things’ that do not matter to me. I think a person should try to occupy oneself with something productive, worthwhile, or necessary at all times. Even though a person’s life is left up to a person to live, I cannot imagine thinking that I owe my time to society through working a job that I simply despise. I am a compassionate person, but I do not owe anyone anything regarding my time.
