Red Grange was a great American because how he changed the game of football by how he runs the football. Book Review of King Leopold's Ghost, by Adam Hochschild What some have considered to be the first international scandal of the modern era took place in the Congo from 1890 until 1910. King Leopold II of Belgium was at the head of this so-called scandal. Although Europe and the rest of the world seemed to have forgotten the victims of these crimes, there is a considerable amount of material to use when attempting to recreate the horror that took place in Leopold's Congo. This is exactly what Adam Hochschild is attempting to do by writing this book. By using the written words of mostly Europeans and Americans, which creates a distorted view of history, he wants to show that the Holocaust type event that took place in the Congo is something that should never be forgotten in our history.
Ray Charles was born on September 23, 1903 to a very poor family. Although no birth record exists, his mother, Retha Robinson, dubbed him Ray Robinson, which he later changed so as to not be confused with Sugar Ray Robinson, a famous boxer (World Book 383). Ray Charles, or as everyone called him RC, was born to a mother only sixteen years old and she had another coming. By RC’s first birthday, his little brother George was born. “None was sure who George’s father was, but all remembered that Mr. Pit and Mis Georgia, who had no children of their own, adopted George to take the added burden off Retha”(Michael 7). While Retha was not able to watch over RC, he was cared for bye her friend Mary Jane, who was split up with her husband and had lost her son.

Charles was born on June 20, 1947 in Cannelton, Indiana. The first home that he remembers living in was a two-bedroom log cabin with his mom, dad, and three sisters. He specifically remembers that the house had a wood burning stove and how his family did not have an icebox. Instead, they kept the items that they needed to refrigerate in a water pump hole to keep them cold. His parents were tobacco sharecroppers, so his family moved around a lot. He went to first grade in Cynthiana, Indiana, and then his family moved to Calhoun, Kentucky where he finished the rest of elementary school. Then, his family moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he went to middle school. Once Charles got to the ninth grade, he decided to drop out of school and move to Evansville, Indiana to live with his older sister.

Sir Walter Raleigh was born in 1552, but not to the common name that is now in print. During his lifetime, his name was spelled five different ways: Raleigh, Rawleigh, Ralegh, Rawley, and lastly Rawlee. It was not until the early 19th century that his name took hold of the Raleigh spelling. He was a very tall man, just over six feet tall. Keep in mind people were generally shorter in those days than they are today. Sir Walter Raleigh possessed a very attractive and strong Devonshire accent.
The story line of Red Harvest is riddled with double-crossing characters, bootleggers and crooked authority figures that obviously challenge universal moral codes of conduct. More importantly, some characters remain more morally ambivalent then others. Although, this is a troupe of hardboiled detective novels from the time, and the Film Noir genre where nothing is as it seems, there are particular characters and events that stand out. The language and situations are so double sided that the reader is forced to question the weave of their own moral fabric. Dashiell Hammett through his writing style is able to reflect on the concerns many had at the time regarding rise in crime and deterioration of Victorian age morals, coincided with the rise of the detective Anti-hero, guilty woman (femme fatal) and vigilantism.
Walter is the man who created football. If it wasn’t for Walter then on February 2 we wouldn't be able to watch the superbowl. And kids wouldn’t be able to play football or pop warner. How Walter created football was he thought of soccer and changed the rules in football.
Setting can be looked upon as simply the place and time of where a story takes place, though not knowing that it can be more then just simply information. In this story, “The Masque of the Red Death,” this proves how important setting can really be and how it ties into the actual themes of the story, and the overall setting itself.
Throughout literature, authors employ a variety of strategies to highlight the central message being conveyed to the audience. Analyzing pieces of literature through the gender critics lens accentuates what the author believes to be masculine or feminine and that society and culture determines the gender responsibility of an individual. In the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, the gender strategies appear through the typical fragile women of the mother and the grandmother, the heartless and clever male wolf, and the naïve and vulnerable girl as little red riding hood.
The fairytale Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault is a story that recounts the adventure of the protagonist Little Red Riding Hood as she fulfills her mother’s wishes to bring a package to her ill grandmother. Perrault’s short story conveys influential life themes on the idea of male predation on adolescent women who fall victim to male deception. Perrault successfully portrays these themes through his use of rhetorical devices such as personifying the actions of the antagonist Wolf predator as he preys on the protagonist Little Red. Perrault illuminates the central theme of upholding sexual purity and being aware of eminent threats in society in his work. The Red Shoes ‘The Red Shoes’ is an imaginary and unreal story by Hans Christian Anderson. Anderson makes effective use of fantasy to teach moral lessons. He builds up the story in such a way that the reader does not care about the validity of the incident. The moral lesson is that the proud and the disobedient must suffer. Disobedience is a sin, and according to the Christian belief it is what started the demise in the heavens above, so anybody who commits it must suffer.
