Written in 1952 by Ray Bradbury, “A Sound of Thunder” tells the story of how in 2055 a new technology was invented that could change the world. Safari Inc offers a trip to the past to hunt the big game dinosaurs. Eckles a big game hunter, signs on to go on an expedition. We have a feeling he is nervous. A 2005 adaptation of the film by director Peter Hyams, starring Ben Kingsley, as Charles Hatton, the owner of Time Safari Inc; Edward Burns, as Dr.Travis Ryer, a scientist and safari leader; and Catherine McCormack, as Sonia Rand, an evolutionary scientist and social activist, is similar to the original story. They both start the same in the beginning, but the differences are the characters. The movie is better than the short story even if it may have some differences, but it’s quite interesting with what’s happening. The plot involves a time period 2055 Safari Inc. offers a trip to the past to hunt the dinosaur then realized that one of the workers stepped on a butterfly changing the course of time. Then, Travis has to go back in time trying to fix everything. The characters are quite a reasonable thing to look up too. Travis Ryer, a leader that loves to kick butt and watch over his team mates. Sonia Rand, a person that admits she was right a lot of times. The special effects are really noticeable throughout the movie. Ray Bradbury was a science fiction writer whose work focuses on the consequences of the technological advancement. His short story does not offer any happy endings, no room for correcting the wrong. The film on the other hand was quite acceptable having the creatures eating their meal, or the plants poking a person then being hallucinating from the poisonous plants. Bradbury shows how the ending was confusing considering how everything was back to normal but it was quite confusing like in the short story did that happened? In closing, my recommendation for this film is to let people go out and see it because it’s quite a scientific movie if you’re asking. Just be prepared for stuff that
