I am obsessed with Ralph Lauren. When I found out that the three-story Ralph Lauren Flagship Store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan was five minutes away from the hotel I was staying at in New York, I cried.
When I discovered that there was a coffee shop tucked way on the third floor inside the store, I cried some more.
Most coffee shops in downtown Manhattan have little to no seating. I found that most New Yorkers usually grab their coffee and keep on walking. This was really hard to get used to considering I am the kind of person who sits at coffee shops for hours. All I wanted was to leisurely drink my coffee, rest my feet, and plan out my activities for the day. Is that too much to ask??
Ralph's was the answer to my prayers. It is the cutest coffee shop I had ever seen. And I got my caffeine fix and shopping fix all at the same time.

From the dark green and white color scheme to the mosaic tiled floors and the dark oak walls. It was all so, well, Ralph Lauren.
It resembled a Parisian café and a classic American home at the same time. It was a refreshing change to all of the stop-and-go coffee shops that are packed in every street crevasse. Ralph's has plenty of seating and the decor makes you feel like you are sitting in RL's kitchen. The contrast of the white marble and dark oak was to die for. Even the staff looked the part with green striped button-downs and khakis with the signature embroidered Ralph's apron.

Every coffee addict knows, the day just does not begin until one’s mouth has had a taste of that glorious, roasted brew. Now, whether one likes a venti iced skinny hazelnut macchiato, sugar-free syrup, extra ice, no whip, the father, the son, and the holy spirit, or simply a cup of Americano, dark; the general consensus is that the combinations are virtually unlimited and the cafes are a plenty. However, coffee lovers beware of the hype; Starbucks may seem the prominent choice for a morning cup of joe but when it comes down to it, Dutch Bros. is the only way to go.

Each floor I stopped at had a variety of stores. From eery-looking stores selling Halloween and magic merchandise to a magazine shop selling vintage Playboys and Time magazines from the 40s, to a saloon that invited customers, every corner filled up with something worth staring at or dropping my jaw on. Tibetan artefacts, leather bags, indie artist studios, thrift shops, liquor stores, stationary, carpentry shops, jewellery stores, clothing like t-shirts, hats, ties, and belts, pet care, human care, hair styles, Seattle mementoes, and thousands of other little and large shops lit up as customers
As previously pointed out the piece is full of many vibrant colors, like the floors a dull, muted yet dark brown that is accented with the pale almost teal colored shade of green, primarily in the far end on the floor. The glass on the window in the back has both light greens and yellow shades next to each other, yellow on the right side and the light green colors, covering more of the glass on most of the windowpanes, on the left side. The walls are a light blue with the occasional bundle of white lines or streaks of white. Both of the doors that are partially visible are similar shades of blue, one of them has blotches of a brownish grey color. The other door has a different colored doorframe, a green stripe on the left side, which is immediately followed by a white stripe.
But these contrived differences give rise to esthetic difficulties too. Because inherent differences—those that come from genuinely differing uses—are lacking among the buildings and their settings, the contrivances repre...
Ralph Lauren is American's leading designer in the classic tradition, who has stayed true to his own point of view, despite the seasonal vagaries of fashion. Mr. Lauren has always believed that fashion is function of lifestyle. He believes that clothed should be natural, comfortable and elegant, for the way people live today. His clothes have timeless grace and become more personal and special age.
Abstraction was a major difference between Morris and Read. While Read advocated about it, Morris’s impression of a post-revolutionary life did not fit the aesthetic ideas that went hand in hand in abstraction. Both Morris and Read showed how there is great art in craftsmanship, and Morris especially showed that in the Red House and Green Dining Room, where they were obviously made for a purpose but still were meticulously crafted by hand to create an aesthetically pleasing work of
with regards to younger consumers. Interestingly, as of 2014, the city with the largest number of Starbucks is Seoul with 284, with New York City coming in at a close second with 277 stores. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/306896/cities-with-the-largest-number-of-starbucks-stores-worldwide/)
... into 392 Cafe and order her favorite item off of the menu. Her favorite item is the Caramel Macchiato. A nice warm beverage makes Payson relaxed. She also loves the atmosphere at 392 Cafe so she will sit down and do her homework. By the time Payson leaves the cafe, she is in a way better mood than when she arrived there. 392 Cafe is just an amazing place. There is not one person Payson has talked to that does not like 392 Cafe. It is a successful business. They are definitely better than Starbucks exceeding in their coffee quality, baked goods, smoothies, workers personalities, and their work environment. There is no other coffee shop Payson would rather go to than 392 Cafe. She has grown in love with it and so have many other people. Although many people will argue Starbucks is better than 392 Cafe, with further investigation it was proved that 392 Cafe is better.
Starbucks did not escape the common practice of adapting and integrating the business to different geographic regions, but they did stick to their guns when it came to their standard product line-up and their no-smoking policy. Surprisingly, these conditions were met with wide acceptance. Analysts felt the real challenge would be in the European marketplace, what with coffeehouses on every corner to compete with. Again, the stores did very well, mainly because of the newer, cleaner environment they provided compared to the older locations of established houses.
The coffee shop I decided to do my observation was the well known Starbucks just a couple blocks away. The reason I chose this coffee shop was because of it 's style inside, it attracted me. For example, one side of the wall has a glass top, and the lower part of the wall, made of wood and painted in a bright red color, which was one thing that attracted me and stood out. Outside of the shop people can actually see through the glass wall and get to see what’s happening inside of the coffeeshop. By the entrance you see these two red ceiling lamps which were shaped in a flower bud and these two tall green plants. Once you were in, on the right of the shop there was a counter with food and things to put in your drinks such as milk, sugar, chocolate, etc and the colors and how the food was displayed and served was appealing to my eyes. Behind that counter there was a long table with different electronic devices plugged into the wall. On the middle of the those there is a fridge just for ice and when I turned to the other side and I noticed a big menu on the wall. Further more into the shop, there was an area filled with tables, chairs, and sofas. The tables were in different shapes, one was round and the others rectangular, also there was four bamboo baskets and I looked around and noticed that the walls in that area were decorated with paintings.
In 1971, Starbucks opened its doors to society to become one of the most well known coffee chains. The first store is located in Seattle as part of the Pike’s Place Market and a huge tourist attraction. I have personally been there several times when I was stated in Washington State from 2011-2013. “In 1981, Howard Schultz (Starbucks chairman, president, and chief executive officer) had first walked into a Starbucks store. From his first cup of Sumatra, Howard was drawn into Starbucks and joined a year later 2014).” Forty-two years later you can still go into this chain and get a pleasant ye expensive cup of coffee, but I believe in you get what you paid for. “Toda, with more than 18,000 stores in 62 countries, Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world (2014).”
Because more people are choosing to caffeinate and want to do it lavishly instead of with just plain coffee, we can predict that Rad Cafe will see a boom in business as word gets out about their over the top caffeinated drinks. Coffee as a market is on an upward trend from 2010 to 2015 and that is not expected to stop, especially as the market for coffee and the types of coffee available is continuously changing and trending. This growth can be put on the small scale of what places like Starbucks are going to continue to see just due to the continuing trend of coffee. Rad Cafe will be seeing growth in their small business market share as they appeal to a very specific target market of punk rockers but could bring in extra business by appealing to tourists and those searching for more coffee
The reason I love coffee shops so much is that they act as a meeting place for people to come together. I love the fact that you can get so much work done in the environment, even when they get busy. I can combine my kindness with owning a coffee shop to make people’s day. That sometimes is the best blessing. If I can make someone’s day better in any way, shape, or form, I would. We often take little things for granted. Even a smile while you hand someone their cup of coffee can change their mood. Coffee is the second most imported commodity in the world next to petroleum oil, so the business isn’t going to die. I know that opening and owning my own business will give me money, and I’ll love what I do. The difference is building a brand for the business. It’s what you stand for, what you do, how you act, and how you make others
