Life is like a ladder. The rungs for one to climb up each day. Life keeps going when all one wants to do is stay on the ground. How does one survive through falling down the ladder after climbing so high? A survivor will have taken action and possess traits that will help them survive their circumstances. When one needs to thrive through a world full of hate, they need the ability to adapt and purpose.
With a sense of purpose a survivor can overcome all difficulties and encourage one to reach their final goals. Goals are set up by realizing the importance of matters. Goals are important by helping one focus on the development of knowledge, time, and space. To set a goal one must decide what to work towards and has to mean something to them. When one set goals, they start thinking ahead of time to reach a destination. Without goals one will just sleepwalk through life, due to the fact they do not have a direction of where they want to go. In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding the character Ralph gives himself purpose in wanting to be rescued off an island. Change happens every day and it forces one to examine their lives and learn how to work around their problems. Adaptability is essential in order to survive. A survivor Kayla Montgomery, is living with MS she runs for herself even if she can not feel. She says, “I start out feeling normal and then my legs gradually go numb. I’ve trained myself to think about other things while I race, to get through. But when I break the motion, I can’t control them and I fall”(Crouse). Like Kayla she became adapted to her disease and made a future with it. With this ability, one affords a greater opportunity to get what they want and what they need.
