Chittorgarh, the crown gem of the kingdom of Mewar, is one of the most beautiful cities in the arid state of Rajasthan. Located along a high hill near the Gambheri and Berach river (a tributary of River Banas) the city of Chittorgarh is the home to largest fort complex in India. The city is the standing testimony of chivalry of Rajputs, where each time the city was under attack of more powerful enemy its people embraced death over surrender and disgrace by performing jauhar. Teej : Teej is one of the major festivals in India but it the way it is celebrated in the fort of Chittorgarh is spectacular. Teej is the festival of celebrating rains on the onset of monsoon. The monsoon rains fall on the thirsty land and the appealing scent of the wet soil disperse in the atmosphere of the fort. This festival is celebrated in Chittorgarh with great zest and zeal. Gangaur : Gangaur is the major local festival of Rajasthan. It is celebrated specifically in Rajasthan. It is celebrated with great fervour and devotion by womenfolk who worship Gauri for good health and long life of their spouses
. Jauhar Mela : Jauhar refers to the rajput custom of mass self-immolation by women.
