Racism could be defined as the belief that one human is more superior than another due mainly to the difference in skin color. Racism, in the past has induced wars as well as the formation of nations and Racism has been around since the beginning of human history.

As the custodian of Singapore’s heritage, the NHB is responsible for telling the Singapore story, sharing the Singaporean experience and imparting our Singapore spirit. The mission of NHB is to safeguard and promote the heritage of Singapore’s diverse communities for the purpose of education, national building and cultural understanding. On the cultural heritage aspect, there are currently four heritage centers, two belonging to the Chinese culture, one for the Indian culture and the other for the Malay culture.
As for the Chinese Heritage Centers, there is one located at Chinatown and another at NUS. The Indian Heritage Centre is located at Campbell lane and the Malay Heritage Centre is located at Sultan Gate.
On that note, it can be seen that there is slightly more priority given to the Chinese culture having two heritage centers while the Indian and Malay culture only have one. Let’s start with the definition of racism. Racism refers to the belief that race is the primary determinant of human capacities, that a certain race is inherently superior or inferior to others, and/or that individuals should be treated differently based on their ascribed race.

His book delineates the rise of modern race theory, beginning in Medieval Europe and synthesizing an explanation for the existence and success of the overtly racist regimes, the United States, South Africa, and Nazi Germany. Fredrickson cautions, however, that racism can easily become interchangeable with religious bigotry when facing corporatism that aims to alienate, marginalize, and devalue human beings as mere consumers with little agency or any collective sense of identity. Racism's ultimate goal, according to Fredrickson, is to establish a permanent hierarchal order that "has two components: difference and power." Fredrickson's analysis is probably one of the most direct and functional definitions of racism that I have run across in a while.

Film critics and audiences have dubbed I Not Stupid an excellent commentary on the education system and government paternalism. The movie stars three school children who have been channelled into the undesirable EM3 stream, and shows the trials and tribulation of these children and their parents. I Not Stupid has been described as a "coming of age movie"1 for its rare ability to criticise the government and its policies and bring pertinent issues to light, so much so that many are surprised that it managed to get past the not-too-kind local board of censors. This presents us with an interesting question - with its explicit references to the government and its blatant criticisms of government policies, how did this political satire get past the censorship board? Was it a case of the censors deciding that this sort of criticism was acceptable once in a while? Or perhaps the censors just saw the movie differently. At first mention, the latter might sound very unlikely. However, if we ask ourselves what the real butt of the satire is, we might begin to realise that there is a possibility that this movie is not intended to be a political satire at all. In fact, it is my contention that the butt of the satire in this movie is the Singaporean mentality, and not the government.

It traced the real evidence of civilization in the country over the times. In 1819, founded as a British trading post, Singapore was colonized by United Kingdom. However, it declared independence from British colonization in 1963 and joined together with other former British colonies to form Malaysia. However, Singapore separated from Malaysia because of conflict over the rights of ethnic Chinese citizens (Dixon 27) and obtained independence as the Republic of Singapore in 1965. Now, Singapore has developed rapidly, and it is one of the Four ‘Asian Tigers,’ which is group of countries recognized as notable for maintaining high growth rates and fast industrialization (Liu 1444-46). The population of Singapore is approximately 5.3 million, composed of 74% Chinese, 14% Malay, 9% Indian, and rest are other ethnicities such as Europeans, Eurasians, etc. (Singapore Census of population 2010) Chinese, Malay, and Indian are the major ethnic communities in Singapore. One of the unique and interesting characters of Singapore is that its language policy is best described as multilingualism.
