Imagine pulling up to a car show in your freshly purchased ride. You just shelled out three million dollars to show up and capture the eyes and lenses of every single spectator and photographer within a half-mile radius. You park your car among the most expensive at the show, but still manage to outshine them all. However, when you open the door and step out, all of the car aficionados approach you with their questions. What country is it from? Can it run on biofuel? If so, how much more horsepower does it make on ethanol than regular pump gas? How many gears and cylinders does it have? Is the transmission a single- or double-clutch? High-value supercars have more to them than just their high cost. Primarily, the most important factor in deciding the best supercar manufacturer is the performance of its vehicles. In 1998, Australian Formula One car producer, McLaren, decided to take its racecar technology and apply it to a car that could be driven on the streets. The result: A V12-powered carbon fiber three-seater, ironically named the F1. The F1 is the perfect example of performance. The F1’s 627 horsepower took it around the Nardo racetrack in Italy with an average speed of 240.1 miles per hour, a record that stood for seven years.
