This quote is from the book Wonder, Wonder is about a boy who has a facial deformity and he starts fifth grade at a real school. He had to go through many hardships, but peoples acts of kindness helped him get through the fifth grade. I have come up with the impacts of being kind. People could be happier, it changes people, and people could stand up to bullying. Being kind can make people happier. There is scientific research that states that being kind to people can make them be happier and it helps with anxiety and stress. As I was researching for this essay, I came across an article by Imran Rahman called A small act kindness can change someone's life forever. He wrote that there was a boy he saw walking with a pile of books, some person came and tripped him and he fell. Imran helped him pick up his book and they started talking, they became best friends all throughout high school. It was their graduation day and the boy was valedictorian, and he had to prepare a speech. In his speech he said that day when he was walking home with those books, he had cleaned out his locker, so his parents wouldn’t have to. He said that, that weekend he was planning on committing suicide, but when he met Imran and Imran was nice to him and wanted to be his friend he changed his mind. That was a small act of kindness, just being that guy’s friend changed his life. There is another example of this in the book Wonder. It’s toward the end of the book, when they came back from camping. Everyone was saying hello and being nice to August, it made August’s view of everything changed.
