The person in my book that I would love to relate to the most, is Quinn Cook. My first reason is I have loved him as a player and person for so long. I would love to relate to him is because he was an amazing and outstanding basketball player. He lost his Dad and was always underlooked, and so he was determined to make it to the NBA, and he was a great person to be around. He was always kind and nice to people, and was so thoughtful. And he won a NCAA national championship. My second reason is when he tried to make it to the NBA he went undrafted, but that didn't stop him from his dream. They will go through anyone or damage anything to reach their goal. No matter how small or how tall they are, anyone can be a villain. Doug Swieteck, from “Okay for Now”, by Gary D. Schmidt, lived a life in anger. At the beginning of the book, he was very hateful of everything. He had spent a long time in anger and disgust, trying to find a way in life. Near the beginning of the book, Joe Pepitone gave Doug his baseball cap and jacket in person, to Doug. But, Doug’s mean older brother took the cap and his dad took his jacket. That added to Doug’s anger even more. But, luckily he turned it around in the middle and end of the book. Each of these characters posses a different personality which contributes to the book as a whole. Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that character was George. George and I share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major characteristic I found in George is his ability to take the initiative in whatever he is doing, therefore showing his sense of leadership qualities. This caught my eye automatically since I am the type of person to stand up and demonstrate my leadership to others.
Before going to Alaska, Chris McCandless had failed to communicate with his family while on his journey; I believe this was Chris’s biggest mistake. Chris spent time with people in different parts of the nation while hitchhiking, most of them whom figured out that McCandless kept a part of him “hidden”. In chapter three, it was stated that Chris stayed with a man named Wayne Westerberg in South Dakota. Although Westerberg was not seen too often throughout the story, nevertheless he was an important character. Clarke Griffin is a main character on The 100 The daughter of Dr. Abigail Griffin and Jake Griffin, and the leader of the 100. She was imprisoned as an accessory to the crimes of her father. Down on the ground, she tries to ensure the 100's survival by getting food, resources, and continuously serves as their medic. She is portrayed as relatively benevolent but will fight or kill when there are no options, and possesses natural leadership qualities. Clarke is gradually hardened and matured by her experience on Earth, which transforms her into a strong heroine in the series, in a struggle for the people of the Ark and the inhabitants on the planet to co-exist peacefully and thus in hopes of the reunification of humankind. Many times when reading a novel, the reader connects with one of the characters and begins to sympathize with them. This could be because the reader understands what the character is going through or because we get to see things from the character’s perspective and their emotions and that in return allows a bond to form for the reader. The character that is the most intriguing for me and the one I found comparing to every book that I read during school was Stacey from the book “Ravensong” Lee Maracle. The character Stacey goes through a lot of internal battle with herself and it’s on her path to discovery that she begins to understand herself and what she’s capable of. Throughout the novel, Stacey has a few issues she tries to work through.
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the character Nick Carraway is one of the main characters in this novel. Nick isn’t only a character, he is a great narrator also for this novel. In The Great Gatsby the narrator, Nick, is the only one to seem to be know the real Gatsby and to be on Gatsby's side. He wants the readers to know who Gatsby really is and why he has become who is. Nick also talks about how he feels and his character is conflicted internally and externally.
I have met many people so far in this life, but the person I enjoy remembering the most is my husband Jeff. He was born and raised in Tennessee. He is six feet tall, weighs two hundred sixty seven pounds,he has dark brown eyes, and such a nice smile. His hair is jet black with just a few silver and white strands throughout. He is a very big and strong character of a man. And yet he is the most gentle, kind and caring man that I have ever met. Jeff has a sexy southern drawl to his voice. The one person who has influenced my life greatly is my husband, the first reason being because of his positive attitude, his intelligence, and the way he expresses his love.
