Queen Elizabeth was the third queen of England and she reigned for 44 years. Queen Elizabeth had many influential moments in her life. She influenced art and literature. She influenced women. She influenced religion. She even influenced England’s government. Many people referred to her reign as the Golden Age of England and it is was also known as the Elizabethan Era (“Queen Elizabeth 1 Biography”). In this era, great achievements in art and literature blossomed (Alchin). Great poets and playwrights emerged during her era such as William Shakespeare, Edmund Spenser, Christopher Marlowe, and Sir Walter Raleigh (Alchin). Elizabeth I was the queen of England from 1558 to 1603. Elizabeth I had many qualities of an absolute ruler and these qualities helped her to make a stronger England. Among the areas that Elizabeth I had absolute power were, her total control of politics in her country, her complete ability to use the military to keep and increase her power, and her complete influence over the social and cultural situation of England.

Elizabeth I was born on the seventh of September 1533 at the Palace of Placentia in Greenwich, England. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII (1491-1547) and his second wife who was once his mistress, Anne Boleyn (1507-1536). However after speculation of adultery, incest, and high treason, Anne’s marriage to the king was annulled and she was executed. This ultimately declared the young Elizabeth illegitimate. Her father remarried to Jane Seymour (1508-1537), who gave birth to a male heir named Edward VI (1537-1553). Edward succeeded to the throne after the death of Henry VIII by the age of nine, however he became ill at the age of fifteen. She had two children with Prince Charles, but eventually divorced him and was involved in other relationships. A few years later, tragedy struck. Diana, the Princess of Wales, was killed in a horrific car crash on the night of August 31, 1997, and although there are several conspiracies concerning her death, the most likely is that Diana’s crash was what it seemed, a high speed car crash caused by rabid paparazzi.

In the Elizabethan era, unsparing, common crime and punishment flourished for reasons fluctuating because of social class, gender, religion, and the satisfaction of antiquated torture devices.
