Introduction
The objective of this case study is to analyze the way forward for Quality Foundry in the face of increased competition, dwindling fortunes, declining quality, customers’ complaints and low employee morale. In order to do this, the current mission statement will be critically examined and a better mission and vision statement will be written with its guiding principles.
The fact of the case is that the management of Quality Foundry observed a decline in foundry industry between 1960’s and 1980’s from more than 1200 companies to about 400.They also discovered that customers were not happy with the quality of the products supplied by them. Ten years later, Quality Foundry made a commitment to quality by hiring a Quality Assurance

A mission statement must communicate the organization’s reason for being, and how it aims to serve its key stakeholders.
Mission statements must play three critical roles: communicate the purpose of the organization to stakeholders and inform strategy development; develop the measurable goals and objectives by which to gauge the success of the company’s strategies.
A mission statement must not be too long. Mission statements are typically short paragraphs that are one to three sentences in length. It must not be a mini-novel like the one in the case study. It must not lack inspiration; it must not be boring.
Mission statement should be powerful enough to incite passion and excitement from those who read it. It must not be too generic or broad to be meaningful. It must devoid of jargons.
It must be tested with the employees. It must not be one man exercise.
The current mission statement lacks most of the guidelines above.

Conclusion
It is not enough to have the best mission and vision statements if the top management is not committed to it. Mission and vision statements should be a guiding principle. If the management of Quality Foundry fails to abide by what is written in the mission and value statements it will easily be noticeable by the customers and the general public and nobody will take the company seriously. Mission statement should be reviewed from time to time to be sure the company still abides by the tenets of what is written therein. Management should not just write a mission statement, but they should be seen to put it practice. Mission and vision statement should not be a one-man
A mission statement express the core purpose of an organization and its reason for existence. Mission statements are vital to an organization because they communicate and set the foundation of the purpose of their existence. They shape the attitudes and behaviors of the members of the organization and the perceptions of the public (Hess, 67).
Metallix Scotland Limited is a traditional manufacturing company based in Edinburgh. Employing 270 staff, the company mechanizes components for the automotive and aerospace industry. In order to ensure the quality of its products, MSL has relied upon customer Quality Assurance audits. However, it has been decided that the company will gain ISO 9001 accreditation and the customer base have supported this decision and agreed to the move. On the other hand, gaining ISO 9001 requires a lot of commitment and highly trained staff.
Along that same line, mission statements, when used properly and used to its maximum potential for the organization, can reorient us to what we’re supposed to be doing and, if we’re willing, it can show us where we need to
A mission statement should define the organization, why they exist, who they are serving, and what products and services they offer (Aguinis, 2013). Aguinis (2013) includes eight components for a good mission statement. These components are products or services offered, customers being served, benefits to their products or services, technology being used, growth and profitability, managerial philosophy, public image, and self-concept of business by the employees and stockholders (Aguisis, 2013).
An organization’s mission statement communicates the purpose and values to not only the customer but also to the employees. A mission statement should not be confused with a vision statement. A mission statement is clear and concise, clearly stating who and what is important along with the direction of the organization. On the other hand, a vision statement communicates what needs to be done to achieve the mission statement. Furthermore, a mission statement should be brief, concise, and easily recitable by all employees (S. M. Coleman, personal communication, March 11, 2017). The example of a fire department’s mission statement titled “CitizenKARE” is the focus of this week’s assignment. The example attempts to communicate the department’s
This mission statement is clear, they want to be the best in fashion. A mission statement is a summary of the values and aims of a company. The mission statement of a company is usually directed at those looking to buy shares rather than the customers themselves. ASOS currently has around 4,000 employees despite being a global company; as ASOS is based online, then less employees are needed to help run the business.
Any successful organization in in the 21st century should have a mission and a vision. When an organization has a foundation and a purpose for existence, they will have the basic qualities of a successful establishment. To follow through with a mission, a vision must be created. A vision is based off of a company’s purpose for existence and formation of long-term goals. Without goals, an organization has nothing to work for and no reason to become successful. While working at Safeway, I was aware of the mission of the company and the vision that the company had.
A company mission defines the firm 's core intent and the business or businesses in which it intends to compete. Papa John 's has four different mission statements that apply to four different groups of Papa John 's stakeholders. Those four mission statements are:
The focus of the mission statement is geared towards the qualities they would like the students of the college to develop. For example, “Spring Hill College forms students to become responsible leaders in service to others.” This is a clear goal that Spring Hill College would like to instill in every student. Another clear example would be that statement that reads: “We offer our students a thorough preparation for professional excellence...”. The author does not stray from the main goal and presents the mission in an elegant and comprehensible way. This makes the mission statement more effective than a mission statement that does not present a clear
Mission and/or vision: list and critique the validity of your organizational mission statement and assess the level of employee 'buy-in' the organizational vision.
This Company made their mission statement in 2012 and according to me this mission and vision statement is good but these need loads of changes as I have read in this course mission statement should be:-
A mission statement is important because it creates the general big picture of the company and every employee can relate to it no matter what their job within the company is. With a list of values and norms the Ivanovics create a level of expectation when it comes to attitude and behavior. If the owners follow the same values and norms as the employees, the employees will feel like they are a meaningful part of the business. This will allow the employees to feel more committed to their jobs.
The code of ethics can be perceived as a moral directive, which can in turn attain prideful outcomes (Fritz et al., 2013). The mission statement is a support tool to be used for an organization as a boost within the community and public. Achievement is a goal for an organization. An organization communicates through their policies, code of ethics, and mission statements. An organizations influence helps to create and assist in the functioning among the leaders, individuals, and the organizational culture (Verbos et al., 2007).
Quality is a very important thing in an organization; therefore it is not possible to improve the quality of a product or service substantially without major changes in all aspects of the organization. Because quality is so important if changes aren’t made throughout the organization the output of the product will no be very successful. Everyone in the organization plays a major role in the out come of its products.
A company’s mission is just a big goal that needs to be accomplished within a certain amount time and should support the company’s overall vision. Within the organizations mission there can be smaller goals which need to be achieved to attain the mission. A mission statement will describe, “the purpose of the company, and/or what the company strives to do” by a certain time. (Hill, Jones, & Schilling, 2015). “A mission statement communicates the organization’s reason for being, and how it aims to serve its key stakeholders. Customers, employees, and investors are the stakeholders most often emphasized, but other stakeholders like government or communities (i.e., in the form of social or environmental impact) can also be discussed” (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2015). Mission statements are often longer and more in-depth than vision statements and are usually have a shorter time period associated with
