The purpose and goal I find in receiving a Master’s Degree in Social Work is not only to further my education but to also help advance my work skills. There is always an opportunity to better yourself, whether it be enhancing your education, on the job training or workshops that increase your knowledge and awareness. Furthering my education is important not only in my professional life but as well in my personal life. On a professional level, it will help me obtain positions that I desire. For example, I would like to do administrative work and eventually be granted a counseling position. In order for the opportunity to present itself, I must take action in bettering myself for those specific positions. After spending a year in the workforce, I have come to realize that it is important to always challenge yourself to be the best that you can be. I spent a good portion of my life striving to succeed at what I have defined as successful. I am the first grandchild out 33 grandchildren to graduate with a college degree. To my family, this is a huge accomplishment. However, I feel that there is more to be learned and more to be achieved. I have set a personal goal of obtaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work. It is of great importance to me to succeed at this goal in my life. I am aware of the dedication it takes, I am also aware of the sacrifices I will have to make in working towards this degree.
