Up until college I will have lived in the same house my whole life, and living in a dorm in college and participating in campus activities will be a change that I will get used during my time at a University. I want to continue to participate in sports, volunteering, and leadership opportunities, but mainly college will help me to advance in my education and bring me closer to a career in actuarial science. As an actuary it will be important for me to make important steps that will ensure a career following my education at Temple. These include getting internship

While in college now I have met many different people in the classroom, where they are from and different things about their background. I agree with Gary Gutting in the article “What Is College For?”. I agree that college is a place for students to discover dimensions of knowledge that they would otherwise never know existed without attending. College should not be a place students go to just to pass their classes and earn a degree. I believe that college is about students discovering themselves as people and figuring out what kind of role they play in society. My first semester of college has been rough so far and I now see the reason so many people told me to live on campus. Living at home, I feel that I am not able to fully have a real college experience and make the connections with people I need. I hope to live on campus for a semester next year in hopes of engaging more
I will be going to college in a few months and am not sure what to expect from college with me being so young; however, I know that my family will be supportive and encouraging to me. My father seems especially eager about my upcoming college entry, probably because I am his only son out of eleven children. My father and grandfather are both pastors and I feel that they want me to continue the pastoral tradition in the family (Hammond).
Everyone has their goals in life but college is one of those methods used to fulfill those goals. College was always on my agenda. Before I was even born, my parents had created a new pathway solely for me. This road took me on a journey filled with motivation, anxiety, and gratitude that ended up taking me to college.
The outcome of a higher education will bring the success you were seeking, find your interests, navigate you to diverse opportunities, and even improve your critical thinking on daily routines. College teaches you all the rudimentary skills such as problem solving, communication, critical thinking, or even self- motivation. Knowing these skills properly, you’ll have a quicker reaction on how to deal with unexpected situation. For me, college will guide me to a successful future, increase my opportunities in life, improve my daily skills, and teach me to become more aware on situations. Most of all, college will help me influence other family members to attend by showing them how successful one can become with a higher
All of the experiences that college brings are designed to shape students as people to make them more proactive members of the modern society. In other words, college is where kids are made into men and women. In many ways it's also a trial by fire to see who has the right focus to make it through. These trials, scary as they may seem, all shape the graduates of today. Well the graduates anyways. “It forces you to grow up. It's just all about learning how to live on your own. I matured a ton and I still mature every day” (Paoli). College gives students the resources they need to survive in the modern world and so much
First, students will gain more knowledge. College will expand their thinking and mind. College also broadens their minds into new life experiences, skills, and techniques. In an interview with Melissa Maley, a Religion Professor at GTCC, she stated “students can gain much going to college far beyond just a job. College teaches students discipline and organization (or it should) and how to meet deadlines under pressure. College exposes students to multiple points of view and helps people wade through multiple levels on information in order to discern the relevance and correctness of this information”. Basically, college can do more than just preparing student for their career, but also learning all the other aspect as well. “College is the center of learning” says Melissa Maley. In high school, students only learn the basic skills unless they take specific college classes. In college, students memorize and study more advanced information. Not only students will gain new skill, but they will also practice they desired field of major at a much higher level. It may take several years to complete and fully understand the new skills, but it is totally worth it.

Having a college education is very beneficial for a person’s future. The degree itself is not the most beneficial aspect of a person’s success in the future nor is the type or rank of school attended will be most beneficial. The education received throughout the years in college will be the most beneficial reward in a student’s life. The education a person receives from a college experience is not only the textbook education or the education provided by the professors but also the real-life experiences. The real-life experience benefits are what will truly matter in the future. A few specific benefits from a college education are the life experiences, the commitment to someone/something other than yourself, the skills achieved such as time management and organization, and also the self-sufficiency a person profits. College is also a great time to find yourself through the chaos of balancing life and maintaining passing grades. “Another one of the many benefits of a college education is meeting others from distant places with diverse backgrounds.” (McGuire) In high school, students do not have the wide range of people from different backgrounds. In college, students are introduced to everything new to life and along with that comes other students from different areas of life. Going to college and having the
From my college experience, I hope to gain many things. Obviously college is a time that students can truly become individuals. When I attend college I will have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. I have always relied on my parents for support, but at college I will be on my own and will have to push myself harder. This will help me to become more mature and will help me grow in character. I have long awaited for the time to be independent and now is the time that I shall prove myself.
The world we live in is overflowing with choices and chances. Every day, each and every human must make thousands of decisions. Some decisions may be rather simple to make, or not present a high chance for an unfavorable outcome. While one may decide the apple they picked up from the store is not very sweet, the cost lost on the apple is rather minimal and the consumer will most likely be presented with many more opportunities to pick a delicious apple. However, some choices are much more complicated. Decisions such as where to invest one’s money, or what physical challenges to endure, present very serious consequences. If the wrong decision is made, one could lose their financial security, or even their life.
I am currently looking for work as an Administrative Assistant with the goal of becoming a Business Administrator or General Manager in the future. I have been in the workforce for a couple of decades now and have had the opportunity to experience many different career paths. Administrative Assistants have a broad range of duties that I think would utilize and hone my existing skills as well as offer me insight into how different departments function; this combined with my work history would make me a great future manager.
According to bigfuture.collegeboard.org in the article, Attending College: What It 's All About and Why It Matters from 2016, “College helps students develop into mature, responsible and independent adults” (Attending College, 2016)
College is going to start my own life on a foot that is ready to leap because my career is going to take off right out of the gate. All-in-all I’m going to college for three main reasons. My immediate family is a reason because I want them to be proud of me for doing something right for once. My future family is also one because it’s a big part of my life that I want to be happy and always feel comfortable. Finally for my personal financial well-being, so I can be able to treat myself to all the luxuries I want for myself. Going back to line one, all of these things are a part of my future. Isn’t that what college is for after all, to prepare people for their own futures and what they bring? A university is not my future, it’s only the beginning of it.
